Hyundai unveils India-spec Bayon with AI voice assistant, launch on October 26
Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) on Monday unveiled the India-spec Hyundai Bayon, a new intelligent utility vehicle equipped with generative artificial intelligence, advanced connected-car technology and a digital cockpit. The SUV is scheduled to be launched in India on October 26, 2026, with bookings now open at authorised Hyundai dealerships and through the company's official website for ₹11,000.
Developed around the philosophy of “Intelligence That Moves”, the Bayon introduces several technologies to Hyundai's Indian portfolio, including the company's first generative AI voice assistant, an NVIDIA-accelerated Connected Car Navigation Cockpit, over-the-air software updates and more than 70 connected features through Hyundai Bluelink.
The SUV will be powered by a four-cylinder, 1.5-litre MPi petrol engine producing 115 PS and 144 Nm of torque, paired with either a 6-speed manual transmission or an Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT).

One of the Bayon's principal highlights is Hyundai Motor India's first generative AI voice assistant, which combines intelligence provided by Perplexity with voice AI technology from SoundHound AI.
Unlike conventional voice recognition systems that primarily respond to predefined instructions, the new assistant is designed to understand conversational requests and provide contextual information during journeys.
According to Hyundai, occupants will be able to use the assistant to prepare travel itineraries, obtain real-time weather information, identify hotels and restaurants along a route, find nearby shopping destinations and access sports scores and related information.
The company said the technology was intended to make interactions with the vehicle more natural and reduce dependence on conventional menu-based controls.
The generative AI assistant currently supports interaction in English, while its responses are intended for information and convenience rather than replacing human judgement.
Commenting on the new model, Tarun Garg, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Hyundai Motor India, said the Bayon placed technology and convenience at the centre of the customer experience.
He said the integration of generative AI, advanced connectivity and software-driven innovation would enable a more personalised driving experience for Indian customers.

The Bayon features two 12.3-inch curved panoramic displays that bring together the instrument cluster and infotainment system within a unified digital cockpit.
The arrangement is designed to provide access to driving information, navigation, entertainment and connected-car functions through a large display interface.
The cockpit supports individual user profiles, allowing drivers to personalise selected controls and settings according to their preferences.
Hyundai has also equipped the SUV with its Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC), accelerated by NVIDIA technology. The system integrates online onboard navigation, advanced graphics, personalised controls, split-screen functionality and smartphone-like quick-access features.
The company said the interface was developed to simplify access to frequently used functions while providing a more integrated digital experience.
𝗦𝗼𝗳𝘁𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘂𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗶𝗿
The Bayon will support over-the-air updates for up to 19 vehicle controllers, enabling Hyundai to introduce software enhancements remotely without requiring owners to visit a dealership for every update.
The controller-level OTA capability is intended to support improvements in vehicle functions and connected services over time.
Hyundai said the technology would help reduce maintenance-related inconvenience and allow the vehicle's digital systems to evolve after purchase.
However, the availability and rollout of updates will remain subject to the company's discretion, network connectivity and other applicable conditions.

Hyundai's Bluelink connected-car platform will offer more than 70 features in the Bayon, allowing owners to access several vehicle functions remotely through compatible connected devices.
The suite includes remote engine start and stop, vehicle information, remote controls, location-based services, navigation assistance and safety and security functions. Smartphone and smartwatch connectivity will enable owners to interact with selected vehicle features even when they are away from the car.
The company said the integration of these services with the digital cockpit and AI voice assistant would provide a connected experience extending beyond conventional infotainment functions.

Recognising India's linguistic diversity, Hyundai has introduced a multilingual interface across the Bayon's infotainment system and digital instrument cluster.
The interface supports 10 regional languages and two international languages, allowing users to access vehicle information and selected functions in their preferred language.
The SUV also offers more than 500 embedded voice commands in English, Hindi, Hinglish, Tamil, Bengali and Telugu.
Unlike the generative AI assistant, which supports English-language interactions, these embedded commands can operate several in-car functions without an active internet connection.
Hyundai said offline voice functionality would enable faster access to frequently used controls and improve convenience in areas with limited network coverage.
𝗣𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝘄𝗼 𝗴𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗼𝘅𝗲𝘀
The India-spec Bayon will be offered with Hyundai's four-cylinder, 1.5-litre MPi petrol engine, producing 84.4 kW, or 115 PS, and peak torque of 144 Nm.
Customers will have a choice between a 6-speed manual gearbox and Hyundai's Intelligent Variable Transmission, an automatic transmission designed to provide smooth acceleration and convenient operation in urban traffic.
The company said the powertrain had been selected to balance performance, refinement, efficiency and everyday usability.
Hyundai has not disclosed the Bayon's official fuel-efficiency figures in the press release. Detailed variant-wise specifications are also awaited.
𝗕𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝘁 ₹𝟭𝟭,𝟬𝟬𝟬
The Bayon is scheduled for its official India launch on October 26, when further product and pricing details are expected to be announced.
Customers can reserve the SUV by paying ₹11,000 at authorised Hyundai dealerships or through the company's official website.
Deliveries are scheduled to begin during the festive season, with detailed delivery timelines to be communicated at launch.
Hyundai has not yet announced the vehicle's ex-showroom price.
With the Bayon, the carmaker is placing particular emphasis on artificial intelligence, connected services and software-enabled functionality as it expands its SUV portfolio in India. The new model combines a conventional petrol powertrain with technologies designed to make vehicle operation, navigation and information access more intuitive.
The October 26 launch will provide greater clarity on the Bayon's pricing, available variants and equipment levels, which will determine its positioning in India's competitive SUV market.
