BMW opens bookings for new X1 Long Wheelbase ahead of August 21 India launch
BMW India has opened pre-launch bookings for the new BMW X1 Long Wheelbase (LWB), with the luxury SUV scheduled to be launched in India on August 21. Bookings for the new model opened across BMW India’s authorised dealership network. Prospective customers can also register their interest through the company’s website.
To be locally produced in Chennai
The new BMW X1 LWB will be locally manufactured at the BMW Group plant in Chennai, continuing the German luxury carmaker’s localisation strategy for the Indian market. BMW has positioned the upcoming model as a larger and more spacious iteration of the X1, with a particular emphasis on rear-seat comfort and cabin space. The company said the long-wheelbase version has been designed to combine additional space and comfort with the driving characteristics associated with BMW models. BMW describes the X1 as its highest-selling luxury SUV in India and said the latest iteration would offer a bigger and bolder package.
Focus on rear-seat space
According to the company, the new X1 LWB will be the longest and most spacious vehicle in its segment, with increased rear-seat room forming one of its key selling points. It will also focus on technology, everyday practicality and a stronger road presence. The company, however, has not yet disclosed detailed specifications, powertrain options or pricing for the new model in the press release. Those details are expected closer to its formal launch on August 21.
The launch will expand BMW’s offerings in India’s luxury compact SUV segment at a time when manufacturers are increasingly focusing on models that offer greater cabin space and rear-seat comfort. Customers can currently preview highlights of the upcoming X1 Long Wheelbase through BMW India’s official website.
