AISA leader Neha Bora moves Delhi High Court against Rs 10,000 peace bond notice

Neha Bora challenges Delhi Police's Rs 10,000 peace bond notice after her detention at protest

All India Students' Association (AISA) student leader Neha Bora has approached the Delhi High Court challenging a Delhi Police notice directing her to furnish a bond of Rs 10,000, along with a surety, to maintain peace during an ongoing inquiry. Her legal team is seeking an urgent hearing before the court's vacation bench.

Bora was detained by Delhi Police on Friday evening ahead of the 'Lehra Do Tiranga' march at Connaught Place. She was taken into custody from the protest march in the Mandi House area and released the following morning.

According to Delhi Police, Bora was released after completing the formalities under Section 65 of the Delhi Police Act. Her petition challenges the notice requiring her to execute the peace bond.

Abhijeet Dipke released after preventive arrest

CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke was also placed under preventive arrest amid the protests. Police invoked Sections 126 and 170 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), citing apprehensions of a breach of peace.

Dipke was subsequently released by the Special Executive Court on Sunday evening.

Detentions amid protests over voter revision

The detentions took place against the backdrop of demonstrations by opposition parties, student groups and civil society organisations opposing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

The protesters have argued that the voter-list revision exercise could lead to eligible voters being excluded from electoral rolls, raising concerns about potential disenfranchisement.
