In a viral video, Sonam's lover Raja Raghuvanshi seen consoling her father at husband's funeral

Raja’s mother, Uma Raghuvanshi, also recalled seeing Raj at the wedding and confirmed that others had mentioned his presence

In a shocking twist to the Meghalaya honeymoon murder case, the boyfriend of the woman accused of killing her husband was seen offering comfort to her father during the victim’s final rites in Indore. According to police, 29-year-old Raja Raghuvanshi was brutally murdered as part of a premeditated plan allegedly orchestrated by his wife, Sonam, and her lover, Raj Kushwaha. Both are now in police custody, along with three hired assailants believed to have carried out the killing. The gruesome incident, which has captivated public attention, has been actively chronicled by Raja’s sister, Shrasti Raghuvanshi, a social media influencer with nearly 400,000 followers. She has been posting developments in the case, including videos from her brother’s wedding and footage of Sonam’s arrest, on Instagram. In one video that has gone viral, Raj Kushwaha appears alongside Sonam’s father, Devi Singh, during Raja’s funeral procession. “Raj Kushwaha was seen at Raja’s house with Sonam’s father,” Shrasti captioned the clip, highlighting the unsettling proximity of the alleged conspirator to the grieving family. Raja’s mother, Uma Raghuvanshi, also recalled seeing Raj at the wedding and confirmed that others had mentioned his presence. Though she refrained from directly accusing her daughter-in-law, she questioned Sonam’s inaction during her son's final moments. “Why didn’t she try to save him?” she asked.

Meanwhile, Shrasti has continued her online campaign for justice, sharing emotional appeals and personal memories of her brother. “My brother promised Sonam seven lifetimes, but their journey didn’t even last seven days,” she said in a heartfelt video, using a photo from the couple’s wedding as the backdrop. “If you loved someone else, you could’ve walked away. Why kill him?” She also posted clips showing people defacing photographs of the couple and video footage of police escorting Sonam into custody. Raja and Sonam were married on May 11 in Indore and embarked on their honeymoon to Meghalaya on May 20. On May 23, the couple went missing while en route to a tourist location. Raja’s mutilated body, bearing deep machete wounds, was discovered on June 2. Sonam remained untraceable until June 8, when she was located in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh. The exact sequence of events leading to her arrest remains unclear, with conflicting reports emerging from the police. Authorities have identified her as the central figure in the crime and, along with Raj Kushwaha, as one of the key conspirators. Investigators in Meghalaya allege that the couple hired three men—Vikash, Anand, and Akash—to carry out the murder. A multi-state operation led to the arrest of all three from locations across Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. The case continues to unfold, raising troubling questions about betrayal, premeditated violence, and the facade of love masking a deadly conspiracy.
