Yami Gautam, Aditya Dhar reportedly shift permanent base from Mumbai to Himachal Pradesh

Yami Gautam, Aditya Dhar reportedly relocate to Himachal Pradesh seeking privacy for family

Yami Gautam Dhar and filmmaker Aditya Dhar have reportedly shifted their permanent base from Mumbai to Himachal Pradesh, opting for a quieter family life away from the city’s constant public attention, according to a report by the Free Press Journal.

The couple, who have generally kept their personal lives private, are expected to continue travelling between Himachal Pradesh and Mumbai for professional commitments. The move is reportedly less about stepping away from the film industry and more about creating a private home life away from the bustle of Mumbai.

A long-standing connection with Himachal

The move has a strong personal connection for Yami, who has deep roots in Himachal Pradesh. Before her marriage, she bought a 100-year-old heritage house on a 25-acre property in Gohar, Mandi.

The property has reportedly remained particularly significant to the actor because of her childhood memories of Himachal. Although Yami grew up in Chandigarh, she has spoken about spending summers at her maternal grandmother’s home near Shimla. Her 25-acre heritage property was purchased in 2016 and was described as an emotional connection rather than simply a real estate investment.

The traditional home, built using wood and stone, is surrounded by gardens and farmland where apples, potatoes, plums and ginger are grown. The couple have reportedly chosen to retain the property’s simple character rather than turn it into an extensively developed celebrity residence.

Recent reports have also highlighted traditional features of the house, including its Himachali layout, central courtyard and sloping roof, which Yami chose to preserve.

The couple married at the Himachal home

The property has another major significance for the couple. Yami and Aditya got married there in June 2021 in an intimate ceremony.

The wedding took place at their farmhouse in Gohar, Mandi, with the couple following Himachali customs. They had announced their marriage through a joint statement at the time.

For the Dhars, therefore, the Himachal property has evolved from a personal retreat into a family home with a history stretching from Yami’s childhood memories to their marriage and now, reportedly, their permanent base.

Why the couple prefer a private life

Yami and Aditya have largely avoided making their personal lives a regular part of the public conversation. Their public appearances are generally connected to film shoots, promotions, award ceremonies and other professional commitments.

Aditya has also maintained a relatively low public profile, despite his work as a filmmaker and producer. He was recently seen at the National Film Awards ceremony in Ekta Nagar, Gujarat, where he and Yami were honoured for Article 370. Aditya received the National Film Award as producer, while Yami was honoured for her performance as the lead actor.

The couple’s reported decision to spend more time in Himachal Pradesh comes amid their continued professional commitments in Mumbai.

Their Mumbai home had a Dhurandhar connection

Before reportedly moving their permanent base to Himachal Pradesh, Yami and Aditya were living in a spacious rented apartment in Khar West, Mumbai.

Aditya had even referred to the location while promoting the first instalment of his Dhurandhar franchise in late 2025. During an event, he joked about living on Chitrakar Dhurandhar Marg, saying, “My home is on Chitrakar Dhurandhar Marg.”

The apartment had reportedly been rented by the couple for a considerable period, although subsequent reports indicated that they may have purchased it following the success of Dhurandhar.

Son Vedavid has remained away from the spotlight

Privacy has become even more important for the couple since they became parents. Yami and Aditya welcomed their son, Vedavid, in May 2024.

The couple have deliberately kept their son away from the public eye and have not revealed his face. In September 2025, Yami shared a picture with Vedavid on social media but continued to conceal his face.

Their reported move to Himachal Pradesh would give the family a more secluded environment while allowing Yami and Aditya to continue travelling to Mumbai when their professional commitments require it.

The Dhars have not publicly announced the move as a formal permanent relocation, and the latest reports describe it as a shift of their base while they continue to divide their time between Himachal Pradesh and Mumbai.
