'Toxic' trailer out | Yash unleashes bloody action in Geetu Mohandas' dark gangster drama

Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic features Yash alongside Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Rukmini Vasanth, Huma Qureshi and Tara Sutaria

The much-awaited trailer of Yash-starrer Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups was unveiled on Saturday, offering the first extended glimpse into director Geetu Mohandas' dark and violent gangster drama ahead of its worldwide theatrical release on August 26. The trailer presents Yash in multiple striking avatars as he navigates a world dominated by crime, power, betrayal and volatile relationships. Packed with bloody confrontations, stylised action and flashes of romance, the film marks Yash's major big-screen outing following the blockbuster KGF franchise. The ensemble cast includes Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Rukmini Vasanth, Huma Qureshi and Tara Sutaria, with the trailer offering glimpses of their characters and their connections to Yash's violent world.

Yash enters darker world

The trailer introduces a dangerous landscape of gangsters, power struggles and unpredictable characters, with Yash's rugged appearance and intense screen presence forming the centrepiece of the film. The action sequences are presented on a large scale, while the dark visual treatment gives the film a distinctive identity. The trailer also incorporates romance and emotional conflict, suggesting that Toxic will explore the relationships surrounding its central character alongside the larger crime narrative.

Unlike the KGF films, Toxic appears to place its gangster narrative within a different visual and emotional world. The trailer keeps much of the plot under wraps, relying instead on glimpses of violence, romance and the relationships between its central characters. Reports indicate that Yash appears in a dual role, while the trailer introduces the film's large female ensemble alongside him. The trailer follows earlier promotional material for the film, including the Ladies & Ladies introduction video, which had generated considerable discussion online.

August 26 release

Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic is set against a period backdrop and explores a world shaped by crime, power and mafia networks. The story is reportedly connected to Goa's drug trade and organised crime between the 1940s and 1970s. The project brings together Yash with Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Rukmini Vasanth, Huma Qureshi and Tara Sutaria in key roles. The film has been simultaneously shot in Kannada and English, underlining its ambition to reach audiences beyond its primary domestic market. Toxic is scheduled to release worldwide on August 26, with the trailer launch beginning the final phase of promotions ahead of its theatrical debut.
