The upcoming season promises to explore the complicated relationships within the Morpur royal family while introducing new alliances, rivalries and romantic developments.

The creators, Rangita Pritish Nandy and Ishita Pritish Nandy, expressed excitement about returning to the fictional kingdom following the response to the first season.

"Morpur has clearly found a place in the hearts of audiences far beyond its palace walls, and we couldn't be happier," the creators said in a joint statement.

They added that the response from audiences in India and internationally had made their journey with the series particularly rewarding.

"We're excited to return to this world of larger-than-life characters, complicated relationships and a family that never runs short of surprises," they said.

The creators indicated that the new season would place greater emphasis on romance, humour and family conflicts while exploring previously unseen aspects of the royal household.

Netflix India Series Head Tanya Bami said the second season would broaden the narrative through the introduction of new characters and relationships.

She said the fictional world created by Rangita and Ishita Nandy had successfully combined glamour, humour and emotional drama, and the upcoming season would build on those elements.

The streaming platform has not yet revealed the identities of the new cast members or details about the characters they will portray.

The second season will be directed by Nitya Mehra and Tanuj Chopra, with the makers promising a larger narrative canvas and fresh conflicts within the royal family.

The first season of The Royals, which premiered on Netflix in May 2025, followed the relationship between Prince Aviraaj Singh, played by Khatter, and Sophia Kanmani Shekhar, portrayed by Pednekar.

The story revolved around the financially struggling royal family of Morpur and Sophia's proposal to transform its ancestral palace into a luxury hospitality destination.

The contrasting personalities and ambitions of the prince and the entrepreneur created romantic tensions, family disagreements and unexpected complications.

The ensemble cast also included Nora Fatehi, Dino Morea, Milind Soman, Chunky Panday and Udit Arora.

According to Netflix, the first season entered its Global Top 10 Non-English TV Shows rankings in 58 countries, reaching the third position in the weekly global rankings and topping the charts in seven countries, including India.

The series attracted attention for its contemporary portrayal of Indian royalty, lavish settings, romantic storylines and ensemble performances.

The second instalment will continue streaming exclusively on Netflix, with the returning characters navigating new challenges as the fictional kingdom of Morpur expands beyond its familiar palace walls.
