'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' races past $1 billion in 6 days, beats 'The Odyssey'

Tom Holland's Spider-Man: Brand New Day has crossed the $1-billion mark at the worldwide box office in just six days, becoming the second-fastest film ever to achieve the milestone. The Marvel blockbuster now trails only Avengers: Endgame and has already overtaken several recent box office successes.

Record-breaking start at the box office

The film opened to historic numbers in North America, collecting $360 million across the US and Canada during its first three days. Internationally, it earned $572 million over the same period, helped by early releases and paid previews in several markets, including India.

On Monday alone, Brand New Day added another $47 million domestically, taking its North American total to $407 million. Overseas collections also continued to climb, reaching $645 million.

With a worldwide gross of $1.053 billion after Monday, the film has become the second highest-grossing movie of 2026. It is also closing in on Toy Story 5, trailing it by just $15 million before Tuesday's final figures.

Surpasses recent blockbuster hits

The film's rapid rise has outpaced several major releases this year. Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, which released two weeks earlier, had crossed $800 million worldwide before Brand New Day arrived in theatres. However, the Spider-Man film reached the $1-billion milestone first.

As of Monday, The Odyssey has collected $923 million globally.

Brand New Day has also gone past the lifetime worldwide earnings of Michael ($1.016 billion), The Super Mario Galaxy Movie ($1.011 billion), The Devil Wears Prada 2 ($691 million), and Project Hail Mary ($684 million).

Tom Holland returns as Spider-Man

The fourth standalone Spider-Man film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe sees Tom Holland reprise his role as Peter Parker. Zendaya returns as MJ, while Jacob Batalon is back as Ned.

The story follows Peter Parker after the events that left the world with no memory of his identity. As he tries to move forward alone, he finds himself facing fresh threats and new villains.

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the film also features Sadie Sink, Mark Ruffalo and Jon Bernthal in key roles. With its strong opening, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is now on course for an even bigger global box office run.
