Smriti Mandhana and Palash Muchhal call off wedding: ‘I have decided to move on in my life…’
Music composer Palash Muchhal and Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana have officially ended their plans to marry. Both shared individual statements on Instagram announcing the decision and urged people to respect the privacy of their families during what they described as a difficult period. In her message, Smriti said she wanted to move forward and chose not to go into the reasons behind the decision. She wrote that recent speculation about her personal life had prompted her to speak publicly and clarify that the wedding had been cancelled. Calling herself a private person, she asked that the matter be considered closed and requested space for both families to process the situation in their own time.
Smriti ended her note by reaffirming her commitment to cricket, saying her purpose has always been to represent India and win matches for the country, and that her focus would remain firmly on her career. Palash issued his own statement on Instagram Stories, saying he too had decided to move on. He expressed distress over the rumours circulating online and said that the situation had been emotionally challenging. The composer urged people to avoid making judgments based on unverified gossip and said his team would pursue legal action against those spreading defamatory claims. He added that he intended to navigate this phase with dignity and thanked those who had shown him kindness.
The couple had been scheduled to marry on November 23 in Smriti’s hometown of Sangli. Their pre-wedding festivities had already taken place, but the ceremony was postponed after Smriti’s father was hospitalised, followed shortly by Palash’s own hospital admission. In the weeks that followed, speculation intensified, especially after Smriti deleted her wedding-related posts from Instagram. Although both Palash and her father were discharged, no new date was announced, fuelling further rumours.
Recently, Palash’s sister Palak Muchhal spoke briefly about the situation, saying both families had been through an emotionally taxing period and were trying to stay positive.
