Shraddha Kapoor reveals why she stayed away from films despite 'Stree 2' blockbuster success

In an Instagram Q&A, Shraddha Kapoor opens up about prioritising the right script over big-money film offers after 'Stree 2'

Bollywood actor Shraddha Kapoor has revealed that she turned down several film offers, including projects that came with lucrative paychecks, after the success of ‘Stree 2’. The actor said she chose to wait for a story that truly appealed to her rather than rush into signing another film.

Shraddha shared this during an Instagram Q&A session on Tuesday, while responding to a fan who asked her to offer advice to young girls on managing their careers. Reflecting on her own experience, the actor spoke about the importance of patience and trusting one's instincts.

Sharing her experience, Shraddha said, "I would share about myself. After Stree 2, I was offered a lot of films and money as well, but I had decided that until I get that perfect story, I won't sign anything. My heart said that I will have to keep that patience, and I did that."

She acknowledged that waiting for the right opportunity was not always easy but said she was happy with the decision she made.

"Of course it gets difficult to wait for something you really want, but right now I feel proud that I took the decision to wait. So I would say listen to that voice in your heart; sometimes it becomes difficult, but it's totally worth it," she added.

‘Stree 2’ became a major box office success

Released in 2024, ‘Stree 2’, directed by Amar Kaushik, featured Shraddha alongside Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana and Abhishek Banerjee. The horror-comedy opened to around Rs 55 crore, including paid previews, and went on to collect Rs 857 crore worldwide.

The film also featured a surprise cameo by Akshay Kumar and became the highest-grossing horror-comedy film in Indian cinema.

Shraddha Kapoor's next film is ‘Eetha’

Shraddha is now preparing for her upcoming film ‘Eetha’, directed by Laxman Utekar. She will portray Lavani artist Vithabai Bhau Mang Narayangaonkar in the film, which also stars Randeep Hooda, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Siddharth Jadhav, Ishtiyak Khan and Anant Joshi.

The project draws inspiration from incidents documented in the Marathi book Tamasha: Vithabaichya Ayushyacha.

Talking about her role, Shraddha said, "It’s a story about a woman whose art, courage and individuality make her unforgettable. The more Laxman sir told me about the character, the more I felt connected to her world. Playing this role has been an incredibly exciting experience, and I am thrilled for audiences to discover her journey on the big screen.

This is also my grand reunion with Maddock Films after we made magic with Stree and Stree 2, which is thrilling to say the least. The entire team has put in so much hard work, and I cannot wait for audiences to experience the world of Eetha.”
