Neem Karori Baba series announced after Hanuman Ansh crosses ₹410 crore worldwide
The spiritual legacy of Neem Karoli Baba is set to be explored on television, with Sony Entertainment Television and SonyLIV announcing a new series titled Neem Karori Baba following the strong theatrical run of the devotional film Hanuman Ansh.
Sony Entertainment Television released the first promo for the series on September 30. The show will air on Sony TV and will also be available to stream on SonyLIV. Recent reports have described it as a series inspired by the life, teachings and stories associated with the spiritual guru.
First promo offers glimpse into spiritual world
The promotional video introduces Neem Karoli Baba in his familiar shawl and foregrounds his spiritual association with Lord Hanuman.
In the promo, he is shown praying towards the sky, where an image of Lord Hanuman appears. The visuals offer a brief glimpse into the spiritual world surrounding the guru and suggest that the series will explore stories and miraculous experiences linked to his life.
The voiceover says, “Jis insaan ki kahaaniyon ne desh ko mantramugdh kar diya, ab saamne aayengi unki zindagi se judi chamatkari gaathayein.”
The Indian Express also reported that the teaser shows an elderly man walking beside a river before the figure, wrapped in the blanket associated with Neem Karoli Baba, raises his hands towards the sky and an image of Lord Hanuman appears.
The makers have not yet revealed the cast, premiere date or number of episodes. Details about the creative team also remain under wraps.
Hanuman Ansh continues its remarkable run
The announcement comes as Hanuman Ansh, a devotional drama based on the life and spiritual journey associated with Neem Karoli Baba, continues its theatrical run.
Directed by Vishal Chaturvedi and starring Shobhinaw Satyaa, the film was released on August 7. It opened quietly, earning around ₹10 lakh on its first day, but subsequently gained momentum through word of mouth.
According to the latest reported figures, the film had earned ₹314.63 crore net and ₹371.65 crore gross in India after 55 days. Its overseas gross stood at ₹39.10 crore, taking its worldwide gross to ₹410.75 crore.
The film's collections accelerated considerably after its slow opening. It earned ₹1.08 crore in its first week, ₹40 lakh in the second and ₹10.40 crore in the third week. Collections then rose sharply, with the fourth week contributing ₹61 crore, the fifth ₹90.25 crore, the sixth ₹80.25 crore and the seventh ₹44.80 crore, according to reported box-office data.
Low budget becomes part of film's box-office story
Hanuman Ansh was reportedly made on a budget of less than ₹2 crore, making its subsequent theatrical performance particularly notable. Based on the reported ₹410.75 crore worldwide gross, its earnings have crossed 200 times its reported production budget.
The film has also crossed the ₹400 crore mark in worldwide gross collections, becoming one of the major Hindi box-office performers of 2026.
The success has also opened up plans to expand the Hanuman Ansh universe into other formats. NDTV Profit reported that the team has plans for a game and a comic book based on the world of the film.
With Neem Karori Baba, the spiritual figure at the centre of Hanuman Ansh is now set to receive a separate television treatment, with the series expected to focus on his life and the stories associated with his spiritual journey.
