'Mirzapur: The Movie' advance bookings open, ticket prices soar to Rs 1,800

Advance bookings for 'Mirzapur: The Movie' opened on Monday, with ticket prices varying widely across cities. While regular shows are available from Rs 149 in several locations, a night show at DLF Mall of India in Noida is priced at Rs 1,800, according to BookMyShow records.

The Amazon Prime Original is making the transition from streaming series to the big screen as a standalone film, bringing the popular crime drama and its characters to cinemas.

Ticket prices and opening-day expectations

In Mumbai and several other cities, tickets for regular-day shows are priced between Rs 149 and Rs 500. However, premium shows and locations have pushed prices considerably higher.

Trade tracker Sacnilk expects the film to open in the range of Rs 15–20 crore India net on its first day.

"From a box-office perspective, Mirzapur: The Movie is expected to target a Day 1 opening in the Rs 15–20 crore India net range at this stage. A stronger-than-expected advance booking response could push the film beyond the Rs 20 crore mark, while a softer booking trend would leave it in the low-to-mid teens," it said.

Ali Fazal's advice to fans

For viewers who want to revisit the story before heading to theatres, Ali Fazal has suggested watching only part of the original series.

Speaking at a promotional event in Bihar, the actor said viewers do not need to watch all three seasons to follow the film.

"Everyone must go home and watch Series 1, but only till episode 6. From episode 6 the story of the movie starts and revolves."

What to expect from the film

Directed by Gurmmeet Singh, the film brings back the original cast, including Pankaj Tripathi, Divyenndu, Sheeba Chaddha, Shweta Tripathi and Ali Fazal.

Ravi Kishan and Jitendra Kumar are among the new additions. The teaser shows Guddu Bhaiya, played by Fazal, continuing his ambition to build an empire in Purvanchal.

The original series, created by Karan Anshuman and Puneet Krishna, premiered in November 2018. The second season arrived in 2020, followed by the third in 2024.
