Jr NTR reacts to morphed Janhvi Kapoor 'Chuttamalle' video, says 'will not spare' creators
Telugu superstar Jr NTR on Saturday condemned an AI-generated inappropriate video of his "Devara: Part 1" co-star Janhvi Kapoor from the film's song "Chuttamalle", calling the content "shameful" and vowing legal action against those behind its creation and circulation.
The AI-generated video, which circulated widely on social media before being taken down, digitally manipulates Kapoor's appearance from the song to depict her in sexually explicit manner.
In a strongly worded post on X, Jr NTR called the video "vile" and "shameful beyond words".
"In a land that worships women as mothers and goddesses, where 'Matrudevo Bhava' is not just a phrase but a part of our culture, some people have fallen so low that they are using AI to disrespect a woman in the most degrading way possible. Using AI to create something this vile is shameful beyond words," Jr NTR wrote on X.
Actor vows legal action against those behind video
The actor urged people not to watch, share or engage with the video and said he would pursue legal action against those responsible for creating and spreading it.
"Please do not watch, share or engage with such content. Today it is someone else. Tomorrow, it could be your mother, sister, wife or daughter.
"To the scumbags behind this morphed 'Chuttamalle' video, I will not spare any of you. I will take every possible legal action against those who created it and those who are spreading it," he said.
Jr NTR seeks stricter AI regulations
Jr NTR also urged state governments and the Centre to take stronger measures against the misuse of AI and introduce strict regulations to address such content.
"This is a serious issue, and I urge all the state governments and the Government of India to act strongly and bring in strict regulations against the misuse of AI," he added.
Kapoor is yet to comment on the AI-generated video.
‘Devara: Part 1’ and Chuttamalle
Released in September 2024, "Devara: Part 1" stars Jr NTR and Kapoor in the lead roles. "Chuttamalle", composed by Anirudh Ravichander and sung by Shilpa Rao, was among the popular songs from the film.
In the past, several film personalities, including Rashmika Mandanna, Alia Bhatt, Kajol and Madhuri Dixit, have been targeted by AI-generated or digitally manipulated content.
Mandanna was among the most prominent early cases after a video of another woman was digitally altered to feature her face in 2023.
