FWICE condemns firing at Tiger Shroff's car, seeks security for actor and family

FWICE raises alarm over attacks on film stars after firing at Tiger Shroff's vehicle

The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has condemned the firing incident involving Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff, calling for stronger security measures for the actor and his family. The organisation has urged the Maharashtra government and police to take decisive action, warning that repeated attacks on prominent film industry figures have raised serious concerns about their safety.

In a statement, FWICE described acts of violence and intimidation as unacceptable and expressed concern that the shooting was the second such incident involving a prominent personality from the film industry, following an earlier firing incident involving filmmaker Rohit Shetty.

The federation called for a thorough, impartial and time-bound investigation to identify those responsible and ensure they are brought to justice. It also appealed to the Maharashtra government and the concerned police authorities to take the repeated attacks seriously and introduce effective measures to provide a safer environment for people associated with the film industry.

Mumbai Police form 15 teams to investigate shooting

Mumbai Police has formed 15 teams to investigate the firing incident in the Juhu area. According to the latest update, officers have recorded the statement of Tiger Shroff's driver, Firdous, who sustained a gunshot wound to his left hand.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Mohit Garg said the actor narrowly escaped injury when unidentified individuals opened fire as he was leaving a football club in his car at around 7 pm on Sunday.

Two people, including the actor's driver, were injured in the incident. The driver was reportedly struck by bullets, while Shroff escaped without any gunshot injuries.

Eknath Shinde visits actor, assures family of support

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited Shroff's residence on Sunday night after reports emerged that the actor had been targeted in the shooting. He met the actor to enquire about his well-being and assure him of the state government's support.

Photographs from the residence showed Shroff with dressings on his shoulder and chest and a bandage on his right arm as he interacted with Shinde. His mother, Ayesha Shroff, was also present during the meeting.

Speaking to reporters after the visit, Shinde condemned the shooting and said five rounds had been fired. He said the actor had sustained injuries to his hand from gunpowder and shards of glass, while his driver had also been injured.

Shinde added that both Shroff and his mother were shaken by the incident. He assured the family that the state government stood with them in the face of threats directed at public figures and said no form of intimidation would be tolerated.

Shinde warns against return of gang violence

Referring to the history of gang-related violence in Mumbai, Shinde said such gang wars had been common in the 1990s, but the Mumbai Police had brought them under control in 1995.

He reiterated that attempts to intimidate people would not be tolerated and said the government would take the necessary steps to end such hooliganism and ensure the safety of the actor and his family.
