Arijit Singh announces nine-city India tour eight months after stepping away from playback
Arijit Singh is set to embark on a nine-city India tour in 2027, marking a major return to large-scale live performances months after the singer announced that he would stop taking on new playback singing assignments.
The Arijit Singh India Tour 2027 will run from January to May and celebrate 20 years of the singer’s journey in music. Beginning in Ahmedabad on January 9, the tour will travel through Chandigarh, Jaipur, Mumbai, Bengaluru, New Delhi, Pune and Indore before concluding in Hyderabad on May 15.
Nine cities over five months
The tour will open in Ahmedabad on January 9, followed by Chandigarh on January 23 and Jaipur on February 7. Singh will then perform in Mumbai on February 20, Bengaluru on March 13 and New Delhi on March 27.
Pune will host the singer on April 10, followed by Indore on May 1. The final concert of the announced run will take place in Hyderabad on May 15.
Venues for the individual concerts are yet to be announced. Organisers have, however, described the tour as a stadium-scale production, with multiple shows expected to be staged at large venues.
The tour is being produced and promoted by Team Innovation, while tickets will be sold exclusively through thumpN.
20 years in music
The 2027 tour has been positioned as a celebration of two decades of Singh’s career in music. Over the years, the singer has built a catalogue spanning Hindi film music as well as independent and regional work, with songs such as “Tum Hi Ho”, “Channa Mereya”, “Agar Tum Saath Ho” and “Phir Le Aya Dil” becoming closely associated with his career.
Singh said the 20-year milestone had left him grateful, particularly to listeners who had given his songs a life beyond their original releases.
He said he was looking forward to travelling across India and experiencing that connection with audiences in person, adding that the tour would bring together songs, memories and listeners accumulated across different phases of his career.
After playback decision
The announcement is significant because it comes months after Singh surprised fans by announcing that he would stop accepting new playback singing assignments.
His decision was not a retirement from music. Singh had made it clear that he intended to continue creating music and pursuing other artistic projects, making a distinction between stepping away from new film playback assignments and withdrawing from singing altogether.
The 2027 tour reinforces that distinction. Rather than marking a comeback from retirement, it represents the next phase of his career as a live performer and independent artist after stepping away from the conventional playback system.
Some film songs recorded as part of earlier commitments have continued to be released since his announcement, even as the singer moves towards other musical projects.
Stadium-scale production
Organisers are planning an elaborate live production for the nine-city run. The concerts are expected to feature a custom multi-tiered stage with an extended runway designed to bring Singh closer to different sections of the audience.
The production will also include 360-degree spatial audio, kinetic LED installations, panoramic screens, laser arrays and stadium-scale pyrotechnics. Despite the large production, organisers have said Singh’s voice and his catalogue will remain at the centre of the concert experience.
The setlist is expected to draw from different phases of his career, bringing together songs that have reached audiences across languages and generations.
Tickets from October 10
Ticket sales will be conducted in phases. A pre-sale for Kotak Solitaire Visa credit card holders will begin at 12 pm on October 10 and continue until 2 pm on October 11.
A wider pre-sale for Kotak Visa credit card holders will begin on October 11 and run until 2 pm on October 13. General ticket sales will open at 2 pm on October 13.
The tickets will be available exclusively through thumpN. Prices and venue-specific seating details are expected to become clearer as individual concerts open for booking.
A different chapter
Singh’s announcement comes at an important transition point in a career that has been closely intertwined with Hindi cinema for more than a decade. His decision to stop taking new playback assignments prompted widespread discussion because of his position as one of the most recognisable voices in contemporary Indian film music.
The nine-city tour suggests that live performances will remain a significant part of that next chapter. It also gives audiences their first major opportunity to see Singh on an extensive nationwide concert run since his decision to step away from new playback work.
Beginning in Ahmedabad in January and ending in Hyderabad four months later, the tour will now test how Singh’s enormous popularity as a playback singer translates into the next phase of his career — one built increasingly around his own music, artistic choices and direct connection with live audiences.
