Amitabh Bachchan reveals how he makes sure Jaya Bachchan is ready for events on time
Amitabh Bachchan has revealed a rather simple trick he uses to make sure his wife Jaya Bachchan is ready on time whenever they have to attend an event together.
The actor shared the anecdote while hosting an upcoming episode of 'Kaun Banega Crorepati 18', after a contestant asked him whether he has ever had to wait for Jaya while she gets ready.
Amitabh's trick to avoid being late
Amitabh said the question was a good one before explaining how he handles such situations. According to the actor, he deliberately tells Jaya that an event will begin an hour earlier than the actual scheduled time.
For instance, if they have to attend a wedding where the baraat is expected at 6 pm, he tells her that it will arrive at 5 pm. This, he said, gives her enough time to get ready and ensures that they leave on schedule.
“Kahin jana hota haina toh uska ek samay nirdharit kiya jata hai, ki shamko 6 baje baraat ayegi. (If we have to go somewhere, then a time is fixed, like the wedding procession will arrive at 6 in the evening).”
He added, “Main unko kehta hu ki baraat jo hai 5 baje aney wali hai. Toh 3:30-4 baje se unka shringar shuru ho jata hai aur time pe pohoch jaate hain humlog. (I tell her that the wedding procession is going to arrive at 5. So her makeup starts from 3:30-4 and we reach the event on time).”
Amitabh has spoken about Jaya before
This is not the first time Amitabh has discussed his relationship with Jaya on 'Kaun Banega Crorepati 18'.
During an earlier episode, he was asked whether Jaya gets upset when he returns home late. Amitabh said he makes it a point to inform his family beforehand whenever a shoot is likely to keep him out late.
He sends a message in the family group about his schedule and tells them not to wait for him for dinner. He explained that informing them in advance helps avoid any complaints when he eventually gets home.
If he fails to give an update, however, Jaya questions him about where he was and why he did not inform the family. On such occasions, she has her dinner and goes to sleep without waiting for him.
Amitabh and Jaya first met while working on 'Guddi' in 1971. They married in 1973 and have two children, Shweta Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan.
