Amanda Seyfried, Thomas Sadoski end nine-year marriage after separating ‘for a while’

“Mamma Mia!” star Amanda Seyfried and actor Thomas Sadoski have announced the end of their nine-year marriage, revealing that they had been separated for some time before making the decision public. The couple said the separation had proved to be the right move for them and their family, while emphasising that they intend to maintain their bond despite ending their marriage. Seyfried, 40, and Sadoski, 50, are parents to two children — a daughter and a son.

Couple confirms split

In a joint statement to People magazine, Seyfried and Sadoski said they had been living separately “for a while” and believed the arrangement was working for their family. Despite confirming the end of their marriage, the pair struck an amicable note, saying they would remain part of each other’s lives. The announcement brings an end to a relationship that began more than a decade ago when the actors worked together on stage.

From co-stars to couple

Seyfried and Sadoski first met in 2015 while appearing in the Off-Broadway play “The Way We Get By”. They later worked together in the film “The Last Word”. Their relationship subsequently developed off screen, and the couple announced their engagement in September 2016. They married in March 2017 in a private ceremony and welcomed their first child, a daughter, around the same period. Their son was born later.

The pair largely kept their family life away from intense public scrutiny over the years, occasionally speaking about parenthood and their relationship while maintaining a relatively private home life.

Seyfried stays busy

The announcement comes as Seyfried continues a busy phase professionally. The actor is currently promoting the prison thriller “The Life and Deaths of Wilson Shedd” at the Toronto International Film Festival. She was also recently seen in Paul Feig’s “The Housemaid”.

Seyfried rose to international prominence through films including “Mean Girls” and the “Mamma Mia!” movies and has since built a career spanning musicals, dramas and television. Sadoski, meanwhile, is known for his television work in “The Newsroom” as well as appearances in the “John Wick” franchise and a range of stage productions.

Family remains priority

Neither Seyfried nor Sadoski disclosed further details about the circumstances behind their separation. Their statement instead focused on their family and continuing relationship as parents, signalling that they intend to navigate the end of their marriage privately while raising their two children.
