Meta launches Enterprise Platform, appoints Chirantan Desai to lead AI business
Meta on Monday launched its Enterprise Platform, a new business division focused on bringing the company’s artificial intelligence models, agents and developer tools to businesses. The initiative marks a new commercial push by the Facebook and Instagram parent to expand its AI offerings beyond its consumer and advertising businesses.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg described the Enterprise Platform as a new major pillar of the company’s business. He said the platform would draw on Meta’s AI models, agent technology, large-scale infrastructure and experience working with businesses to help companies use AI to grow and transform their operations.
AI tools for businesses
The initial offering will bring together several AI products, including the Muse agent, Meta Business Agent, Muse API and Muse Code. Meta said the tools will be made available to businesses and developers as part of its effort to turn its AI technology stack into products and services that companies can deploy for their own operations.
The platform is intended to combine AI models and agents with developer tools, allowing businesses to build and deploy AI-powered services. Meta has not yet announced detailed pricing or a broader rollout schedule for the new enterprise offering.
Desai to lead division
Meta has appointed Chirantan “CJ” Desai as Chief Enterprise Platform Officer to lead the new division. Desai will report directly to Zuckerberg and will oversee the development of Meta’s enterprise business.
Desai joins Meta from MongoDB, where he served as President and Chief Executive Officer. MongoDB announced on Monday that he had stepped down from both positions with immediate effect to pursue a senior role at Meta, with Dev Ittycheria appointed interim President and CEO.
Before MongoDB, Desai held senior product and engineering roles at Cloudflare and spent nearly eight years at ServiceNow, including serving as President and Chief Operating Officer. His background spans enterprise software, infrastructure, business applications, AI and security.
Focus on enterprise AI
Zuckerberg said Meta’s existing reach among businesses would provide a foundation for the new platform. Meta already works with hundreds of millions of businesses across its services, particularly through its advertising and customer-engagement products.
The company said Enterprise Platform would seek to build on that existing relationship by allowing businesses to use Meta’s AI technology directly within their operations. The move comes as major technology companies increasingly develop dedicated products and services aimed at companies seeking to integrate AI into software development, customer service and other business functions.
Security and privacy
Desai said AI would increasingly change how organisations innovate, grow, serve customers and manage their operations. He said Meta’s combination of advanced models, AI agents and its existing relationships with businesses would give the company a foundation for expanding into enterprise services.
Meta also said security and privacy would be built into its enterprise products from the outset. Desai said the division would focus on turning Meta’s AI stack into deployable products and services while working directly with customers during the rollout.
Meta expands AI push
The Enterprise Platform represents a shift in Meta’s AI strategy towards creating a dedicated commercial offering for corporate customers and developers. The company has invested heavily in AI models, infrastructure and agent technology and is now seeking to package those capabilities into products that businesses can use.
The launch also gives Meta a senior executive with extensive enterprise-software experience to lead the new business. With Desai reporting directly to Zuckerberg, Meta has placed the new enterprise division close to the company’s top leadership as it develops its commercial AI strategy.
