Creatara Mobility opens first EV plant in Faridabad with a capacity of 30,000 two-wheelers a year
Electric two-wheeler manufacturer Creatara Mobility Wednesday inaugurated its first manufacturing facility in Faridabad with an installed annual production capacity of 30,000 units, marking the company’s transition from research and development to scaled production.
Located in the Delhi-NCR region, the facility will manufacture Creatara’s flagship IN40 and VM4 electric two-wheelers. The company said the plant has been designed around a scalable manufacturing system that would allow production to increase in line with demand.
From development to production
Creatara said the opening represented the next stage of its journey after developing its technology, building products and securing certification. The company is seeking to establish itself in India’s expanding electric two-wheeler market by focusing on products that combine everyday mobility with design and customisation.
“Creatara’s journey has never been about factories first, but about a vision realised step by step. It began with an idea, evolved into a product, proved its potential and achieved certification,” founder and CEO Vikas Gupta said.
The Faridabad facility gives the company dedicated manufacturing capability as it prepares to take its electric two-wheelers to a wider market. Its initial annual capacity of 30,000 units also provides room for the startup to gradually increase production instead of committing to significantly larger manufacturing volumes at the outset.
The company said the plant’s location in Delhi-NCR would support its manufacturing and supply-chain requirements as it moves into commercial production.
IN40 and VM4 take centre stage
The facility will initially manufacture the IN40 and VM4, which Creatara describes as crossover and intelligent electric two-wheelers. Both have been developed with young consumers in mind, particularly college students and working professionals looking for electric vehicles that combine personal mobility with distinctive styling.
Creatara is positioning its products differently from conventional commuter-focused electric two-wheelers, with greater emphasis on design, engineering and personalisation. It said extensive customisation options would allow riders to make their vehicles more individualised.
The company believes this combination could help it build a distinct identity in an increasingly competitive electric two-wheeler market, where manufacturers are competing not only on range and pricing but also on technology, features and design.
Focus on disciplined expansion
Co-founder Ringlarei Pamei said the company had focused on building its capabilities gradually rather than spending aggressively to achieve scale.
“We have built Creatara with disciplined capital. Our focus has never been to spend our way into scale. It has been to create capability at every stage — technology, product, certification, supply chain and now manufacturing,” Pamei said.
“We believe there is tremendous opportunity for companies that can combine ambition with capital discipline and that is the model we want to build at Creatara,” he added.
The commissioning of the Faridabad plant gives Creatara control over a crucial part of its operations as it moves from product development towards commercialisation. Its next challenge will be to translate its lifestyle-focused positioning into volumes in a market already populated by established two-wheeler manufacturers and a growing group of EV-focused companies.
For Creatara, the 30,000-unit facility represents the first step towards that scale, with the company betting that styling, personalisation and technology can help its electric two-wheelers find a distinct space among India’s younger riders.
