A magnitude 7 earthquake struck Tibet at around 10.33 pm local time on Thursday, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC).
The epicentre was located in Nagqu in northern Tibet, at a depth of around 10 km, CENC said.
The earthquake comes weeks after devastating flash floods and landslides hit the Nepal-Tibet border region in August, claiming more than 1,400 lives. The floods originated near the border and swept away homes and buildings across northern and central Nepal.
