West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Thursday alleged that the industrial sector of the state suffered due to "wrong trade union politics" practised by the Left Front during its 34-year rule.

He also accused the previous TMC government of focusing only on "appeasement and dole politics" during its 15-year-long tenure.
Speaking at the foundation stone-laying programme of Adani Arogya Mandir, Adhikari said successive governments had failed to create a conducive environment for industrial growth in the state.
"West Bengal's industrial sector suffered due to wrong trade union politics of the Left Front government. The TMC also failed to adequately focus on industrialisation. In the last 15 years, the previous government was only interested in appeasement and dole politics," Adhikari said.
Government promises new approach
The chief minister said his government has decided to adopt a different approach and create conditions that would encourage industries to invest and expand in West Bengal.
"We have decided to create a conducive atmosphere for growth of the state's industrial sector," he said.
Adhikari said industrialisation was crucial for generating employment opportunities and retaining the state's young workforce.
Focus on investment and healthcare infrastructure
The foundation stone for the Adani Arogya Mandir was laid as part of the government's efforts to attract large investments and expand healthcare infrastructure in the state.
The chief minister said the government would facilitate investments and work towards removing hurdles faced by industries operating or seeking to establish units in West Bengal.
