Punjab transfers 12 PPS officers in major police reshuffle

Changes include new SSPs for Malerkotla and Pathankot as officers are moved across law and order, CID, intelligence and traffic wings

The Punjab government on Tuesday ordered the transfer and posting of 12 Punjab Police Service (PPS) officers with immediate effect on administrative grounds, bringing changes to key district and headquarters-level positions. According to an order issued by the Department of Home Affairs, Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh, who was serving as AIG, NRI, Jalandhar, along with additional responsibilities, has been appointed Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Malerkotla. He replaces Gurmit Singh, who has been transferred as Commandant, In-Service Training Centre (ISTC), Kapurthala. Balwinder Singh, Commandant of the 82nd Battalion, Punjab Armed Police, Chandigarh, has been appointed AIG, Law and Order, Punjab, against a vacant post.

New SSP for Pathankot

Pathankot SSP Daljinder Singh Dhillon has been shifted as Zonal AIG, CID, Jalandhar, while Manpreet Singh, currently SP Investigation, Sangrur, has been appointed the new SSP of Pathankot. Rajeshwar Singh, who was serving as Zonal AIG, CID, Jalandhar, has been posted as Commandant of the 7th Battalion, Punjab Armed Police, Jalandhar. Harpal Singh, who was under transfer as DCP Investigation, Jalandhar, will instead continue as DCP Investigation, Ludhiana. Parvinder Kaur, SP PBI, Tarn Taran, has been transferred as ADCP, Special Branch, Amritsar, while Harpal Singh, currently ADCP, Special Branch, Amritsar, has been appointed AIG, CID, Amritsar, against a vacant post.

Changes in intelligence, traffic wings

Talwinder Singh Gill, who was under transfer as SP Cyber Crime-1, Punjab, SAS Nagar, has been posted as SP, Intelligence Wing, Punjab, SAS Nagar. Ramandeep Singh, who was under transfer as SP Traffic Headquarters, Hoshiarpur, has been appointed SP Traffic, SAS Nagar, replacing Navneet Kaur Gill. Gill has been transferred as SP, Special Branch, Hoshiarpur.

The officers have been directed to join their new postings immediately. The transfer order was issued with the approval of the competent authority and signed by Additional Chief Secretary, Home Affairs, Alok Shekhar.

The PPS transfers form part of a wider reshuffle in the Punjab Police announced on Tuesday involving 20 officers. In a separate order, eight IPS officers were also transferred, with police chiefs changed in several districts, including Bathinda, Mansa, Patiala and SAS Nagar.
