50L women in Punjab to receive financial aid under ‘Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojna’ on Aug 1: Kejriwal

AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday said the Punjab government will transfer financial assistance to the bank accounts of more than 50 lakh newly registered women on August 1 under the 'Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojna'. He also said that those who are yet to receive the benefit will get payments for all three months, from July to September. Rolled out on July 1, the 'Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojna' provides Rs 1,000 per month to general category women, while those belonging to the Scheduled Castes receive Rs 1,500. It was one of AAP’s key pre-poll promises made ahead of the 2022 Punjab elections. The state goes to the polls early next year. Calling Bhagwant Mann a “100 per cent honest” chief minister, Kejriwal said his governance has enabled the Punjab government to provide free electricity, financial assistance to women, and other public welfare benefits. “Mann, who is working day and night for the people, deserves to be re-elected as Punjab's chief minister,” he said. Addressing a gathering at a 'Bhajan Sandhya' here, Kejriwal said when Mann launched the scheme on July 1, money was transferred to the bank accounts of 32 lakh women. “On August 1, more than 50 lakh women will receive the honorarium. Women who have registered but have not yet received the amount need not worry. They will receive the money for all three months of July, August and September,” Kejriwal said. “Today, people (of Punjab) are receiving zero electricity bills, and this is happening because the state has an honest chief minister. Every previous government faced allegations of corruption. But for the first time, Punjab has a chief minister against whom there is not even a single allegation of corruption,” he added.
