Noida Authority skips work circle 13 for New Noida, creates circles 11, 12 and 14

The Noida Authority will create work circles 11, 12 and 14 for New Noida, skipping 13 as it steps up land acquisition and urbanisation preparations

New Noida will have administrative work circles numbered 11, 12 and 14, but no work circle 13, as the Noida Authority sets up its administrative structure for the upcoming urban region, also known as the Dadri-Noida-Ghaziabad Investment Region (DNGIR).

The decision mirrors an existing feature of Noida, which does not have a Sector 13. However, officials have not explained why the number has been skipped for the new work circles.

“Old Noida has 10 work circles, numbered 1 to 10. The new work circles for New Noida will be numbered 11, 12 and 14,” Kranti Shekhar, officer on special duty (OSD), Noida Authority, said in a statement.

The new divisions are intended to help carve out sectors and speed up the urbanisation of New Noida.

Land acquisition preparations gather pace

The authority has intensified work on the project, assigning additional responsibilities to senior officials and deploying field staff to support land acquisition.

Three lekhpals have been tasked with surveying land and preparing reports. The authority also held meetings last week with farmers and gram pradhans from Dadri and Bulandshahr to explain the project and the land acquisition process.

Mahima, OSD, Noida Authority, who is overseeing the project, said farmers raised questions during the discussions about land acquisition and the future of their places of worship.

“We informed them about the Rehabilitation and Resettlement (R&R) provisions, which help affected families rebuild their lives and livelihoods,” she said.

Two general managers have been assigned responsibilities for the project. Senior managers and managers will also receive additional charge to supervise land acquisition, officials said.

Compensation rate hiked by 53%

Last month, the Noida Authority raised the compensation rate by 53 per cent for a category of land acquisition under which farmers are also entitled to a five per cent developed plot.

The compensation amount and entitlement to developed plots for land acquired for New Noida will differ depending on the phase of the project, officials said.

As preparations advance, the authority is working on both the administrative framework and land acquisition process for the planned urban region. The newly numbered work circles are expected to oversee the development of its sectors as the project progresses.
