Zeeshan Siddiqui allegedly on Bishnoi gang hit-list after father's murder, say police sources

After Baba Siddiqui's murder, police sources claim Congress MLA Zeeshan Siddiqui is also targeted by the Bishnoi gang. Two shooters arrested, while investigations continue to track a third suspect

Following the shocking murder of veteran politician Baba Siddiqui in Mumbai last week, sources have revealed that his son, Zeeshan Siddiqui, a Congress MLA from Vandre East, is also allegedly on the Bishnoi gang’s hit-list. Police sources indicated that the shooters had been given a contract to kill both Baba and Zeeshan Siddiqui, targeting them together if possible.

The assailants were reportedly instructed to attack both father and son at the same location, but if they couldn’t find them together, they were ordered to kill whichever target was available first. Baba Siddiqui was shot dead outside his son’s office on Saturday night by three gunmen who threw chili powder at a police constable guarding him.

Two of the shooters, Gurmail Baljit Singh from Haryana and Dharmaraj Kashyap from Uttar Pradesh, have been apprehended, while the third, Shivkumar Gautam, remains at large. He was last spotted near Panvel, and police teams from several states, including Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi, are working to locate him.

Investigations led by Mumbai Police's Anti-Extortion Cell have also resulted in the arrest of Shubham Lonkar, an associate of the Bishnoi gang who claimed responsibility for the murder. According to police sources, the attackers conducted daily surveillance of Baba Siddiqui and Zeeshan Siddiqui’s movements, monitoring places like their home, office, and public events. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspect as authorities ramp up security for Zeeshan Siddiqui amidst rising concerns over his safety.
