Police have arrested another accused in the shooting attack on Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff, with the latest arrest made in Madhya Pradesh's Indore on Saturday. The accused, identified as Pranjal Thakran, 22, allegedly supplied the weapons used in the attack in Mumbai on October 18.
Thakran, a resident of Sonipat in Haryana, was arrested in a joint operation by the Indore and Mumbai crime branches. The attack left Shroff's driver and a vlogger injured, while the actor escaped unhurt.
Accused allegedly supplied weapons
According to police, Thakran had arrived in Indore around five days ago for his brother's treatment. After tracing his location and establishing his alleged involvement, Mumbai Police contacted the Indore crime branch on Thursday night for assistance.
A senior police officer, who wished not to be named, said, “Acting on the input, police tracked his presence in Indore and launched an operation. Four officers from the Mumbai crime branch, along with around eight personnel from the Indore crime branch, participated in the raid. The Mumbai crime branch will now interrogate him to probe the larger conspiracy behind the firing, the supply of weapons, and his links with other suspects involved in the case.”
Police have not disclosed further details of the investigation.
Multiple arrests across states
Thakran is the first accused to be arrested from Madhya Pradesh in the case.
The three main suspects allegedly involved in opening fire at Shroff's vehicle were arrested in Rajasthan's Kota on October 19. They were identified as Rehan alias Sukka, 18, from Sonipat; Ritwik Kurmi alias Roshan Fighter, 22, reportedly from Bihar and residing in Andheri West; and Phool Singh, 18.
On Tuesday, Delhi Police Special Cell arrested four alleged weapon suppliers—Kunal, 21, Sumit, 19, Radha, 23, and Babita, 23—in Delhi and Haryana. Sameer, Jatin and Ankit Khatak have also been arrested in connection with the case.
Five to six rounds fired at actor's car
The shooting took place in Mumbai's Juhu area on the evening of October 18, when three motorcycle-borne men allegedly fired five to six rounds at Shroff's car.
Soon after the incident, an individual identified as Anil Pandit claimed responsibility for the firing in a social media post, alleging links to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
While the motive remains unclear, police said the manner in which the shots were fired suggested that the assailants intended to kill Shroff.
