Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Wednesday directed officials to prepare a special action plan to complete basic infrastructure facilities, including electricity and water supply, at the Global City being developed in Gurugram within the next three months. Saini said the project, once completed, would provide modern infrastructure while creating greater employment opportunities for the youth. The Chief Minister issued the directions while chairing the fourth review meeting of the State Pragati Portal, a web-based monitoring dashboard launched in January 2022 to track infrastructure projects costing more than Rs 75 crore.
According to an official statement, the Global City is being developed over 1,000 acres at a cost of Rs 1,000 crore, with around 80 per cent of the physical work already completed. Saini said the remaining work would be completed by December this year.
The project is being developed as a smart and planned urban centre and will include educational and healthcare institutions, malls, theatres, luxury hotels, community centres, marriage palaces and other facilities.
A dedicated water treatment plant and a green lake will also be developed. Work will also be undertaken to connect the Global City with the Dwarka Expressway to improve connectivity.
The project is being developed by the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (HSIIDC), the state government's nodal agency for industrial infrastructure. Global City has been conceived as a mixed land-use township.
Saini also reviewed the Integrated Multi-Modal Logistics Hub at Nangal Chaudhary and said work related to electricity, irrigation, roads, the external rail siding and internal rail yard had been completed.
An internal in-motion weighbridge is being installed at the logistics hub and is expected to be completed within six months.
The Chief Minister also reviewed infrastructure development at the Integrated Manufacturing Cluster (IMC) in Hisar.
The cluster will include a Skill Development Centre, Convention Centre and Exhibition Hall, Logistics Park and Multi-Speciality Hospital. It will also provide facilities for defence and aerospace, agro-food processing, garments and textiles and other industrial sectors.
Saini said infrastructure, including water supply for the airport and a 220-kV power substation, was being developed at the IMC. Construction of a boundary wall around 1,578 acres under the first phase of the airport project is also underway.
Reviewing tourism infrastructure, Saini said Yadavindra Gardens in Panchkula would be further developed under the Swadesh Scheme 2 as a major tourism and employment-generating destination.
Apart from renovation of the gardens, the government plans to develop a high-end integrated wedding, convention and hospitality destination at the site. A 100-room hotel will also be constructed, while the Pinjore airstrip will be expanded.
The Chief Minister said an adventure park would be developed at Tikkar Tal in Morni. The existing adventure park at Thapli would also be further upgraded as part of the state's efforts to strengthen tourism infrastructure.
