Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini begins four-day Sweden visit to attract investments

Saini's Sweden visit will focus on global supply chains, renewable energy, electric mobility, defence manufacturing and potential city-to-city partnerships

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Wednesday began his four-day official visit to Sweden, aimed at attracting investments, strengthening global partnerships and bringing advanced technologies to the state.

This is Saini's second foreign trip this month. It follows his three-day tour to Singapore, which concluded on October 6.

Haryana aims to attract Swedish investments

The Sweden visit is aimed at positioning Haryana as a preferred investment destination and exploring new opportunities for economic cooperation, particularly in the power, home furnishing, real estate, defence and automobile sectors, an official statement said.

Chief Minister Saini will target the global supply chains of Swedish companies in these sectors, it said.

Saini will hold high-level engagements with Swedish government representatives, leading industrial groups, business organisations and potential investors.

The discussions will focus on attracting investments, facilitating technology transfer, promoting industrial collaboration and creating new opportunities for employment and entrepreneurship in Haryana.

The visit will also seek to strengthen Haryana's integration with global manufacturing and supply chains, particularly by creating opportunities for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to establish business linkages with international industries.

Saini to address India-Sweden Innovation Day 2026

A major highlight of the Sweden visit will be the chief minister's participation in India-Sweden Innovation Day 2026 on October 15, where he will address an international gathering of policymakers, industry leaders, innovators and business representatives, the statement said.

A special session dedicated to Haryana will showcase the state's industrial strengths, investor-friendly policies, infrastructure capabilities and emerging investment opportunities.

Saini is also scheduled to hold discussions with Sweden's Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade, Benjamin Dousa, to explore avenues for strengthening bilateral economic and industrial cooperation, it said.

Power, home furnishing and defence among priority sectors

Saini's engagements will emphasise attracting investments in Haryana's priority industrial sectors, including power and energy, home furnishing, real estate, defence manufacturing and automobiles.

In the power sector, discussions will explore opportunities in renewable energy, energy-efficient technologies, modern power infrastructure, energy storage solutions and sustainable energy systems.

The engagements are expected to provide a platform for examining international expertise and technological solutions that could support Haryana's growing industrial and energy requirements.

The home furnishing sector will be another important area of focus, with efforts directed towards exploring investment opportunities in furniture manufacturing, home furnishing products, modern production facilities and global sourcing networks.

The discussions will also seek to create opportunities for Haryana-based manufacturers, suppliers and MSMEs to become part of international value chains.

In the defence sector, the chief minister will explore possibilities for cooperation in advanced manufacturing, precision engineering, defence-related components and technology-driven industrial production.

Such partnerships could help strengthen Haryana's existing engineering and manufacturing ecosystem while opening new avenues for high-value industrial investment.

Automobile sector to be a key focus

The automobile and auto-component sector, a major pillar of Haryana's industrial economy, will also feature prominently in the discussions.

The focus will be on advanced automotive manufacturing, electric mobility, next-generation vehicle technologies, component manufacturing and sustainable transportation solutions. Greater collaboration in these areas could help Haryana further strengthen its position as a leading automobile and automotive manufacturing hub.

The engagements will also seek to encourage joint ventures, research partnerships and technology exchange, enabling industries in Haryana to benefit from international expertise and innovation.

Real estate and smart city partnerships on agenda

Discussions with international experts and stakeholders will focus on exploring investment opportunities in real estate development, integrated urban infrastructure, sustainable housing, energy-efficient buildings and modern commercial and industrial spaces.

A significant area of engagement will be the possibility of establishing Sister City partnerships and city-to-city collaborations between urban centres in Haryana and Sweden.

These proposed partnerships will aim to facilitate the exchange of knowledge, expertise and best practices in urban planning, infrastructure development, environmental sustainability, waste management, water conservation, public transport and smart governance.

Visit to strengthen technology and skill development ties

Beyond investment promotion, the visit will focus on building long-term partnerships in technology, innovation, education and skill development.

The four-day visit, being coordinated with the Embassy of India in Sweden, will bring together government-level engagements, industry interactions, business roundtables and discussions on technology and sustainable development.

Earlier this month, Saini led a delegation to Singapore to explore opportunities for investment, industrial cooperation, technological partnerships and skill development between Haryana and Singapore.

A year ago, Saini had also led a delegation to Japan with the objective of attracting foreign investment and promoting global industrial activities in the state.
