CM Saini takes Haryana investment pitch to Singapore, seven key sectors in focus

The Chief Minister had begun a three-day visit aimed at attracting investment and strengthening industrial, technology and skill-development partnerships

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday began a three-day visit to Singapore, seeking investments and partnerships in sectors ranging from semiconductors and advanced manufacturing to logistics and Global Capability Centres (GCCs), as the state looks to strengthen its position as an industrial and technology destination.

Saini, who arrived in Singapore on October 4 and will remain there until October 6, is leading a delegation comprising senior officials from the Chief Minister’s Office and the Industries and Commerce Department. The visit will include engagements with investors, industry groups and corporate executives as well as meetings focused on technology, infrastructure and skill development.

SING Forum engagement

A major component of Saini’s visit will be his participation in the inaugural Singapore-India Network for Growth (SING) Forum. The platform, organised by the Singapore Business Federation, is bringing together government leaders, industry executives and investors from the two countries to explore investment and business partnerships.

Saini is also scheduled to meet business representatives at a dinner hosted by the Singapore Business Forum. Haryana officials said the interactions would be used to showcase the state’s industrial policies, infrastructure, connectivity, skilled workforce and developing industrial corridors.

Seven sectors in focus

Haryana has identified logistics, semiconductors, advanced manufacturing, agro and food processing, GCCs, aviation and education as key areas for potential collaboration with Singapore. The state is particularly looking to attract investments in future-oriented sectors such as semiconductor manufacturing and advanced industrial production.

During one-to-one meetings, Singapore-based companies will be invited to establish manufacturing facilities and research and development centres in Haryana. The state will also pitch opportunities in logistics and warehousing, food processing and high-technology industries.

GCC opportunity

Haryana will highlight its potential as a destination for GCCs, drawing attention to its proximity to the National Capital Region, IT and technical workforce and established urban infrastructure. The state is seeking to tap into the continued expansion of multinational companies’ technology, engineering, finance and business-service operations in India.

Singapore’s expertise in logistics and supply-chain management is another area Haryana hopes to leverage. Discussions are expected to cover warehousing, multimodal connectivity, industrial transportation systems, management practices and the use of modern technologies across supply chains.

Food processing push

The state government will also make a strong pitch for investment in agro and food processing. Haryana plans to discuss modern processing technologies, cold-chain infrastructure, value addition and export-oriented production with Singapore investors and food-industry representatives.

Officials believe such partnerships could help connect Haryana’s agricultural production with international markets while creating additional processing and storage capacity within the state. Cooperation in education and skill development will similarly form part of the discussions, with Haryana looking for partnerships with institutions, companies and training agencies.

Safari project on agenda

Saini is also scheduled to visit Singapore’s wildlife facilities in connection with Haryana’s proposed Jungle Safari project. The visit is intended to give the delegation exposure to Singapore’s approach to modern safari infrastructure, visitor management and technology as Haryana develops its own project.

Diaspora outreach

On October 6, Saini is scheduled to meet Sikh businessmen and Non-Resident Indian entrepreneurs in Singapore. The Haryana government plans to brief them on investment opportunities, industrial projects and avenues for participating in the state’s economic development.

Saini will also invite Singapore investors and industry representatives to participate in the proposed Happening Haryana investment summit next year. The state plans to use the event to showcase investment projects and opportunities spanning manufacturing, startups, innovation and international collaboration.

The three-day visit represents Haryana’s latest attempt to translate overseas investor outreach into industrial projects, particularly in technology-intensive sectors. The focus on semiconductors, advanced manufacturing and GCCs also signals the state government’s effort to broaden Haryana’s industrial base beyond its established automobile and manufacturing ecosystem.
