Union Home Minister Amit Shah will participate in a foot march in Karnal on November 5 as part of the BJP’s ongoing “Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao” (Save Democracy, Eliminate Anarchy) campaign in Haryana, state BJP president Archana Gupta said on Sunday.
The march will begin at 10 am from Sector 12 and conclude at Mahatma Gandhi Chowk. Gupta said preparations for the event had already begun.
She announced Shah’s participation after chairing a preparatory meeting with BJP core group members and mandal presidents in Karnal. The meeting was attended by district BJP president Praveen Lathar.
BJP campaign to counter opposition's ‘vote theft’ allegations
Gupta said the campaign was aimed at countering opposition allegations of “vote theft” linked to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, the Election Commission and the electoral process.
The BJP’s public outreach campaign is being conducted across Haryana from October 22 to November 5. Its activities include foot marches, public meetings, press conferences, interactions with prominent citizens and youth conventions.
Shah had earlier visited Gurugram on October 7 to attend the “Viksit Bharat Sankalp” (Developed India Resolve) programme at Maharana Pratap Swarn Jayanti Udyan, also known as Leisure Valley.
Gupta accuses INDIA bloc of misleading people
Gupta, who was in Rohtak on Sunday to participate in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Mann Ki Baat programme, accused the Congress, the INDIA bloc and other opposition parties of misleading the public over the SIR exercise and attempting to weaken constitutional institutions.
She said the BJP had launched the campaign to counter what it described as misinformation surrounding the electoral roll revision and the Election Commission.
Addressing journalists, Gupta alleged that the Congress, the INDIA alliance, the “so-called CJP” and Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal were attempting to mislead people.
The BJP state president said the party would use its outreach activities to respond to the opposition’s allegations and defend the electoral process.
