A 17-year-old girl has alleged that three men posing as policemen threatened her and her male friend before allegedly sexually assaulting her at Aastha Kunj Park near Delhi’s Kalkaji on Monday evening, according to the FIR.
The girl told police that the accused initially questioned why she and her 17-year-old friend were inside the park. They allegedly took away their phones and separated the two.
Accused allegedly pulled out weapons
According to her statement, the girl and her friend had gone to the Kalkaji Temple and later planned to visit the nearby ISKCON temple. They reached the temple at around 5.45 pm and remained there until about 7 pm.
After leaving, they bought chips and water near the metro station before entering Aastha Kunj Park through gate number 7 and sitting on a bench.
The FIR states that three men approached them, caught hold of her friend and slapped him. The men allegedly claimed to be policemen and questioned the teenagers about their presence in the park.
The girl said she asked them to speak to her mother on the phone. The accused allegedly threatened to call her family before producing weapons.
“They then called their third acquaintance and said, ‘Asif bhai gun nikal’ (Asif brother, pull out your pistol). He pulled out a pistol from the pocket of his trousers,” the FIR read.
The survivor told police that two of the accused also brandished knives before taking her towards a secluded area.
Survivor identifies accused
The FIR states that the three men allegedly sexually assaulted the girl at knifepoint. She told police that the accused used condoms during the alleged assaults.
The accused later allegedly returned the teenagers’ phones and clothes and warned them against speaking about the incident.
“They gave our phone back and told us to go away quickly, or they will kill us. They told us not to tell anyone. Then they took us out of the park. I narrated the incident to my friend who called the PCR,” the FIR states.
Police said the survivor remembered the name Asif and nicknames of the other two accused, along with details of their clothing.
Asif was arrested on Tuesday after a brief exchange of fire, while the other two accused, Hemant and Mukesh, were also arrested. The two are brothers from Sri Niwaspuri.
The three have been booked for rape, assault, criminal conspiracy and criminal intimidation, besides charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
