The Delhi Lakshmi Yojana has received more than 5.14 lakh registrations within seven days of its launch, with over 2.18 lakh women completing and finally submitting their applications, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said on Saturday. The scheme, launched on August 1, provides financial assistance of Rs 2,500 per month to eligible women in the national capital. Gupta described the response as unprecedented and said the registration figures reflected women's trust in an initiative aimed at providing financial support while encouraging savings. According to data shared by the Chief Minister's Office, 5,14,460 women had registered for the scheme as of Saturday afternoon, while 2,18,728 applications had been finally submitted. Of those registered, 4,36,316 applicants had provided details of their district or Assembly constituency, while 78,144 were yet to enter the information.
The government said verification of applications was underway and it was aiming to release the first instalment to eligible beneficiaries on Raksha Bandhan. Under the scheme, women can choose between two payment options. In the first, Rs 1,000 of the monthly assistance will be made available through a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) wallet for daily expenditure, while the remaining Rs 1,500 will be deposited in a recurring deposit or fixed deposit.
Alternatively, beneficiaries can choose to have the entire monthly amount of Rs 2,500 deposited in an RD or FD. The government said the application, document verification, eligibility assessment, approval, Public Financial Management System integration, banking and payment processes were being conducted digitally.
Every application will undergo a four-level scrutiny and approval process to ensure that financial assistance reaches eligible beneficiaries. Gupta said the scheme was designed not merely to provide monthly financial assistance but also to encourage savings, improve digital financial inclusion and provide greater financial security to women. She appealed to eligible women who have not yet applied to register through the official Delhi Lakshmi Yojana portal.
North-East Delhi recorded the highest response, with 73,676 registrations and 38,579 applications finally submitted. North-West Delhi followed with 55,700 registrations and 34,545 final submissions, while West Delhi recorded 44,358 registrations and 18,967 completed applications. South-West recorded 44,149 registrations and 23,994 final submissions, followed by Outer North with 39,401 registrations and 23,694 submissions. South-East reported 38,979 registrations, of which 18,725 applications had been finally submitted. North Delhi registered 37,263 applicants and 16,074 final submissions, while East Delhi recorded 30,621 registrations and 14,771 completed applications.
South Delhi had 26,316 registrations and 11,000 final submissions. Central-North recorded 14,279 registrations and 6,332 submissions, while Central Delhi reported 13,715 registrations and 4,208 completed applications. Old Delhi recorded 12,286 registrations, including 6,038 final submissions. New Delhi registered the lowest number among the districts, with 5,573 registrations and 1,801 applications finally submitted. With more than five lakh registrations in its first week, the government said the focus would now be on completing verification and processing eligible applications ahead of the planned first disbursement.
