Delhi Metro to run till midnight on Oct 30 for Diljit Dosanjh concert

DMRC announced additional train trips and special arrangements to manage over 70,000 spectators expected at JLN Stadium

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Thursday announced that train services would be extended until midnight on October 30 to facilitate the movement of spectators attending singer Diljit Dosanjh's 'Aura India Tour 2026' concert at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.

The special arrangements will cover all Delhi Metro lines except the Airport Express Line and Rapid Metro in Gurugram, with additional train trips planned to accommodate the expected rush after the concert.

The event is expected to attract more than 70,000 spectators, prompting the DMRC to strengthen operational arrangements, passenger assistance and security at stations near the venue.

Anuj Dayal, Principal Executive Director, Corporate Communication, DMRC, said the extended services were intended to ensure convenient travel and the smooth dispersal of concertgoers.

According to the DMRC, additional train trips will be operated across the network, while standby trains will remain available for deployment if passenger numbers exceed expectations.

Special arrangements have been made at JLN Stadium Metro Station and other important interchange stations to manage crowds before and after the concert.

Additional Metro staff, customer service personnel and Customer Facilitation Agents will be deployed to guide commuters, regulate passenger movement and assist spectators travelling to the venue.

The DMRC also announced that the time window for purchasing QR tickets through its Delhi Metro Sarthi mobile application would be extended by one hour in view of the revised operating schedule.

Security arrangements will be strengthened at JLN Stadium Metro Station, with additional personnel deployed to handle the anticipated increase in passenger traffic.

Door Frame Metal Detectors and enhanced security screening facilities will be put in place to ensure orderly entry and exit while maintaining safety protocols.

JLN Stadium Metro Station, located on the Violet Line connecting Kashmere Gate and Raja Nahar Singh, is the nearest Metro station to the concert venue.

The DMRC has encouraged spectators to use public transport instead of private vehicles to avoid congestion and ensure a smoother journey.

The announcement came after Delhi Traffic Police issued an advisory warning of restrictions and diversions around Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Friday.

According to the advisory, traffic restrictions may remain in force from 1 pm until midnight, affecting several major roads and intersections around the venue.

The affected stretches include Bhishma Pitamah Marg, Lodhi Road, Lala Lajpat Rai Marg between Defence Colony Flyover and Lodhi Colony Flyover, Archbishop Marg, Fourth Avenue Road and Fifth Avenue Road.

Traffic movement may also be regulated on internal roads around the CGO Complex, Lodhi Colony and JLN Stadium, along with sections of Barapullah Flyover and Dayal Singh College Road.

Police have advised motorists to avoid affected roads wherever possible and allow additional travel time.

Parking facilities will not be available to the general public at or around the stadium, while taxis and app-based cabs will be permitted to pick up and drop off passengers only at designated locations.

Ahead of the concert, Diljit Dosanjh also appealed to fans to travel by Metro rather than bring private vehicles.

In a social media video, the singer said rehearsals had been completed and that Delhi Police had requested him to encourage spectators to use public transport.

He pointed out that the Metro station was close to the stadium and would provide a convenient option for those attending the show.

The October 30 performance will mark the opening of Dosanjh's Aura India Tour 2026, with further concerts scheduled in other major Indian cities.

The DMRC said its extended services and additional arrangements were aimed at helping spectators return home safely while reducing traffic congestion around the stadium.
