Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta launches cashless healthcare scheme for DJB pensioners

Over 50,000 Delhi Jal Board pensioners to get cashless treatment under new scheme

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday launched a cashless healthcare facility for over 50,000 pensioners and family pensioners of the Delhi Jal Board (DJB).

The new system ends the burden of upfront payments and lengthy reimbursement procedures and beneficiaries can now access cashless emergency, planned and non-emergency treatment, along with medical tests, at empanelled hospitals, the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) said in a post on X.

Cashless healthcare launched for DJB pensioners

It said the beneficiaries will be able to receive cashless treatment and medical tests in an easy manner through a single-window system.

Water Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh, Mayor Parvesh Wahi and DJB Vice Chairman Satish Upadhyay were present at the launch of the scheme.

Over 50,000 pensioners to benefit

Gupta said that previously whenever DJB pensioners needed treatment for an illness, they had to pay the expenses from their own pockets first, then apply for reimbursement and go through a lengthy process.

There were several hurdles and challenges in implementing the new system, but the government overcame them and dedicated the facility to pensioners today, she said.

Facility seen as recognition of pensioners' service

Water Minister Singh said more than 50,000 pensioners and family pensioners will benefit from the facility.

This is not merely a medical facility, but also a reflection of the respect and sense of responsibility towards employees who made a significant contribution to providing water and sewer services to households across Delhi for years, he said.
