CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke to be produced before magistrate, Neha Bora released

CJP's Dipke to be produced before magistrate amid detention row, Neha Bora released

Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke will be produced before a special executive magistrate at the Mandir Marg Police Station in Delhi at around noon, the outfit’s head of legal affairs, Ratna Singh, said in a post on X. Dipke was detained on Friday ahead of the CJP’s ‘Lehra Do Tiranga’ march at Central Park in Connaught Place.

The Delhi Police said Dipke and All India Students’ Association (AISA) national president Neha Bora were arrested under preventive provisions on Friday. While Bora was released after formalities under Section 65 of the Delhi Police Act, action under Sections 126 and 170 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) was initiated against Dipke, news agency ANI reported.

According to the police, around 150 people were detained on Friday to maintain law and order and ensure smooth traffic movement.

CJP alleges Dipke taken to undisclosed location

The CJP had claimed on Friday that Dipke was taken to an undisclosed location following his detention. The outfit’s national organisation in-charge, Ajinkya Shinde, said his whereabouts remained unknown more than eight hours after he was detained.

“We have been unable to ascertain the grounds for his detention,” ANI quoted Shinde as saying late on Friday. He also alleged that Dipke was not being allowed to speak to either a lawyer or members of the CJP team.

The detention came ahead of the ‘Lehra Do Tiranga’ march called by the outfit in Connaught Place.

CJP co-convenors in five-day judicial custody

The latest developments follow the detention of CJP co-convenors Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, who were sent to five-day judicial custody on Wednesday after being produced before a special executive magistrate at the Mandi Marg Police Station in Delhi.

Das, Ranka and 12 others were detained early on Tuesday, October 13, after they climbed a locked gate to enter Jantar Mantar, which had earlier been de-notified as a protest site.

While the CJP’s national organisation in-charge, Shinde, and 11 others were released, Das and Ranka were sent to judicial custody.
