The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has announced that Central Park in Connaught Place will remain closed to the public on October 16 and 17, citing administrative reasons, a decision that comes ahead of the Cockroach Janta Party's (CJP) scheduled "Lehra do Tiranga" march at the venue on Friday.
In an official notice issued on Thursday, the civic body informed the public that entry to the park would remain restricted for two consecutive days.
"It is hereby informed that the Central Park, Connaught Place, shall remain closed for general public on 16th October 2026 & 17th October 2026, due to administrative reasons," the notice dated October 15 stated.
The notice was issued by the NDMC director but did not elaborate on the specific administrative circumstances necessitating the closure.

The decision assumes significance as the CJP has announced plans to organise its "Lehra do Tiranga" march at Central Park on October 16.
The demonstration is scheduled to take place amid continuing political protests in the national capital.
However, the NDMC notice does not explicitly link the closure to the proposed march, and the civic body has not publicly specified whether the restriction was imposed because of the political event.
With the park scheduled to remain closed on Friday and Saturday, uncertainty surrounds the proposed demonstration at the location.
There was no immediate information about whether the organisers intended to change the venue or seek permission to proceed with the programme despite the closure.

Central Park, located in the heart of Connaught Place, is a prominent public space frequently visited by residents, shoppers and tourists.
The NDMC's order will restrict access to the park for the two specified dates, affecting regular visitors as well as those planning to attend the scheduled march.
The civic body has not announced any extension of the closure beyond October 17.
The notice also does not provide details of any alternative arrangements for public access or scheduled activities at the park.
The development comes amid wider debate over the availability of public spaces for political demonstrations in Delhi.
For now, the NDMC has maintained that the closure is for administrative reasons, while the proposed CJP march remains scheduled for Friday.
