The exercise comes ahead of the winter months, when unfavourable meteorological conditions can trap pollutants and contribute to a sharp deterioration in air quality. The commission examined preparedness across key sectors, including agricultural residue management, transport and industrial operations, with an emphasis on timely intervention.
Focus on stubble burning prevention
The review examined measures to prevent agricultural residue burning, particularly in states where farm fires contribute to seasonal air pollution. Effective implementation of crop residue management initiatives and coordination between state governments and enforcement agencies remain central to efforts to reduce pollution during the winter season.
Authorities also assessed preparations for controlling emissions from vehicles and industrial units, two major sources of air pollution in Delhi-NCR. The review highlighted the importance of strengthening monitoring systems and ensuring compliance with existing pollution control regulations.
