A video showing a teenage girl allegedly being harassed by a group of men in Bihar's Samastipur has surfaced days after a similar incident in Jamui triggered police action.
The latest incident reportedly took place in Jagatsinghpur village, where the girl and a boy accompanying her were allegedly surrounded by several men on motorcycles. The group is accused of verbally abusing the girl and pushing her around on the road.
The video surfaced on Wednesday, prompting police to begin an investigation.
Girl, boy allegedly surrounded on village road
According to local reports, the girl and the boy had stopped on the road to take photographs when several local men approached them.
The men allegedly surrounded the two and began abusing the girl. The video reportedly captures the group harassing her as the incident unfolded on the village road.
Locals identified the men seen in the video as residents of Jagatsinghpur village. Police, however, said they have not yet established the identities of those involved.
Police officer Arvind Pratap Singh said the accused would be caught soon after their identities and the exact location of the incident are verified.
The police said they acted after coming across the video and were treating the matter seriously.
Samastipur incident follows Jamui case
The Samastipur video emerged only days after another disturbing incident in Jamui district.
Three people were arrested in Jamui after a video surfaced showing a group of men allegedly harassing two Class 10 students — a boy and a girl. The video drew widespread attention online, with social media users tagging Bihar Police and calling for action.
In that incident, the students had reportedly gone out on a scooter after attending coaching classes on Saturday evening.
The video showed several men surrounding them. One man was seen holding the boy by the collar and pulling him away from the girl. When the girl attempted to run, a masked man allegedly caught her from behind.
Police subsequently arrested three people in connection with the incident.
The latest video from Samastipur has now prompted another investigation, with police working to identify the men seen in the footage and establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
