The RBI has appointed Kesavan Ramachandran as its new Executive Director

Kesavan Ramachandran will oversee the Department of Regulation (Prudential Regulation Division), responsible for formulating and supervising regulatory frameworks.

The Reserve Bank of India has appointed Kesavan Ramachandran as its new Executive Director, effective July 1, 2025. Prior to this, he served as the Principal Chief General Manager in the Risk Monitoring Department and brings over three decades of experience across currency management, banking and non-banking supervision, administration, and training. Ramachandran has held several key positions, including Principal of the Reserve Bank Staff College, RBI’s nominee director on the board of Canara Bank for over five years, and a member of the ICAI’s Auditing and Assurance Standards Board for two years. In his new role, he will oversee the Department of Regulation (Prudential Regulation Division), responsible for formulating and supervising regulatory frameworks. He holds an MBA in Banking and Finance, a diploma in International Financial Reporting from ACCA (UK), and is a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Banking & Finance (IIBF).
