PM Modi’s 25 years in public office: BJP plans nationwide ‘Seva Pakhwada’

The campaign will mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi completing 25 years in constitutional public office, with programmes planned across states

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will organise a nationwide service campaign, ‘Seva Pakhwada’, from September 17 to October 2 to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi completing 25 years in constitutional public office, party officials said.

BJP plans nationwide service campaign

The decision was taken at the first meeting of the BJP’s newly appointed national team, chaired by party president Nitin Nabin on Saturday.

The fortnight-long campaign will focus on public service and welfare activities, including sanitation drives, blood donation camps and health camps. Party workers will also highlight welfare measures and schemes introduced during Modi’s tenure as chief minister of Gujarat and prime minister.

Modi took oath as Gujarat chief minister in 2001 and became prime minister in 2014.

Seven-member team to coordinate programmes

BJP national general secretary Vinod Tawde will head a seven-member team responsible for preparing the campaign plan.

According to party sources, a separate team will be formed in every state to coordinate the programmes. These state-level teams will include a minister, an organisational general secretary and five senior leaders.

The BJP also plans to organise intellectual conferences and seminars focusing on good governance, development and ‘Antyodaya’, or the uplift of marginalised sections.

Interactive sessions with young people will also form part of the campaign, as the party looks to expand its engagement with the younger generation.

BJP plans Gen Z outreach

The party is also preparing a separate outreach effort aimed at Gen Z.

A team comprising Nitin Nabin, Vinod Tawde, former Union minister Smriti Irani, Gujarat minister Harsh Sanghavi and Chhattisgarh minister OP Choudhary, among others, will work on strengthening the BJP’s engagement with young voters.

The ‘Seva Pakhwada’ will run for 16 days, beginning on September 17, which is Modi’s birthday, and concluding on October 2, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
