Prime Minister Narendra Modi will host around 45 newly elected and first-time NDA Lok Sabha MPs for a breakfast meeting at his official residence on Friday morning, continuing the BJP-led alliance's outreach to fresh legislators and recent political entrants. According to BJP sources, the interaction is scheduled to begin at 9 am and will include MPs who have recently joined the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) from parties such as the Trinamool Congress (TMC), Nationalist Congress Party (India) (NCPI), Shiv Sena (UBT) and others. The meeting comes just two days after the Prime Minister held a similar breakfast interaction with newly elected BJP Rajya Sabha members.
Recent entrants to NDA to attend
Among those expected to participate is NCPI leader Yusuf Pathan, who confirmed that he would attend the meeting. "Yes, I will go. Whatever is good for the nation, we will do. And I will meet our Hon'ble Prime Minister," Pathan said. The interaction is part of the BJP leadership's continuing effort to familiarise first-time parliamentarians with parliamentary functioning and the party's expectations from elected representatives.
Follows interaction with Rajya Sabha MPs
On August 5, Prime Minister Modi hosted 37 newly elected BJP Rajya Sabha MPs, including several leaders who had recently joined the party from other political formations. During the interaction, the Prime Minister shared his experiences in public life and advised MPs on parliamentary conduct, public engagement and ethical standards in political life. According to sources, he urged MPs not to get caught in the "web of Delhi" and advised them against limiting themselves to Lutyens' Delhi, encouraging them instead to remain connected with people in their constituencies.
'Connect with youth'
The Prime Minister encouraged parliamentarians to actively engage with young people through social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and X while highlighting government welfare initiatives and promoting sports among youth. He also urged MPs to build cordial relationships with colleagues across party lines and spend more time in the Parliament Library to strengthen their understanding of legislative work. Responding to a question on how he manages multiple responsibilities, Modi said he focuses on the present moment and avoids being distracted by other concerns. He also spoke about maintaining a healthy lifestyle, saying yoga helps him remain energetic despite limited sleep, and encouraged MPs to adopt similar habits.
Several Rajya Sabha MPs who attended Wednesday's breakfast meeting described it as an opportunity to receive guidance on parliamentary responsibilities and public life. BJP MP Ashok Mittal said the Prime Minister advised members to carefully listen to young people and engage with them respectfully. Rajya Sabha MP Vikramjit Singh Sahney said Modi emphasised the importance of ensuring Parliament functions smoothly and encouraged MPs to devote time each day to studying in the Parliament Library. BJP leaders Rahul Sinha, Sushmita Dev and Tarun Chugh also said the Prime Minister stressed dignified conduct, constructive political engagement and learning from experienced parliamentarians across party lines.
