The Malankara Mar Thoma Syrian Church has thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Centre for efforts that led to the release of three of its members who had been detained in Saudi Arabia.
In a letter to Modi, Theodosius Mar Thoma Metropolitan, head of the Kerala-based Church, expressed gratitude for what he described as the “sincere and sustained efforts” of the Prime Minister and his office in securing the release of Dannaymon, Liju Mathew and Mathew Cheriachen.

The letter, dated September 9, said the Church deeply appreciated the “prompt intervention and compassionate attention” extended by the Prime Minister’s Office in the matter.
The Metropolitan also acknowledged the efforts and coordination of the Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia. He said the diplomatic intervention and subsequent release had brought “immense relief and joy” to the three members, their families and the wider Church community.
The Church also thanked officials and others involved in facilitating their release and acknowledged the role played by Indian diplomatic efforts.
Prayers for Modi
In his letter, the Metropolitan conveyed his appreciation to the Prime Minister for his intervention and support and offered prayers for his continued service to the country. “Please accept, Honourable PM Sir, our profound appreciation for your valued intervention and support,” the Metropolitan said in the letter. He also prayed that Modi would be granted “wisdom, strength, and grace” in his continued service to the country and its people. The Church said the release of the three members had provided significant relief to their families and the broader community.
