Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has brought a Bollywood flavour to his social media updates from the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi, using popular Hindi film songs to accompany posts featuring Indian leaders and other dignitaries.
Among the songs chosen by Ibrahim were two tracks associated with Shah Rukh Khan, including Tujhe Dekha To Ye Jana Sanam from Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and Dil Toh Pagal Hai from the film of the same name.
Shah Rukh Khan songs feature in Modi posts
In a video showing Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcoming Ibrahim to Bharat Mandapam, the Malaysian leader used Tujhe Dekha To Ye Jana Sanam, the popular song featuring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.
For another photograph with Modi, Ibrahim selected Dil Toh Pagal Hai, from the Shah Rukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit and Karisma Kapoor-starrer Dil To Pagal Hai.
The song choices added a distinctly Bollywood touch to Ibrahim's updates from the summit, which brought together leaders and dignitaries in New Delhi.
Malaysian PM's Bollywood connection
Ibrahim's musical posts came after another Bollywood-related moment during his India visit. At a gala dinner hosted by Modi during the BRICS summit, the Malaysian prime minister sang Kishore Kumar's Khwab Ho Tum Ya Koi Haqeeqat from the 1965 film Teen Deviyan. He performed the song with a live pianist, and the video subsequently attracted widespread attention on social media.
The song was composed by S D Burman and its lyrics were written by Majrooh Sultanpuri. Ibrahim shared the performance on social media with a light-hearted message asking permission to sing.
His interest in Indian music has also featured in earlier diplomatic engagements. During Modi's visit to Malaysia in February 2026, Ibrahim shared a video montage of the Indian prime minister's visit set to Bole Chudiyan from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.
Ibrahim's latest Bollywood-themed posts have therefore added a cultural dimension to his BRICS visit, alongside the diplomatic engagements and discussions held during the summit.
