The Centre on Monday notified 11 additional international ports where foreigners holding e-Visas will be allowed to enter India, expanding the country’s e-Visa entry network to 88 points. The newly notified points include nine land ports and two airports, according to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). The expansion is aimed at improving the accessibility and utility of India’s electronic visa system for foreign travellers.
With the latest addition, foreigners holding e-Visas can now enter India through 88 designated international entry points, comprising 37 airports, 38 seaports and 13 land ports. “The Government of India has notified 11 more international ports, enabling e-Visa holder foreigners to enter India,” the MHA said, adding that the expansion would further enhance the attractiveness and utility of electronic visas.
Among the newly added entry points are Attari in Punjab on the India-Pakistan border, Moreh in Manipur, Dawki in Meghalaya, Jaigaon, Haridaspur, Gede and Ghojadanga in West Bengal, Darranga in Assam and Agartala. The inclusion of more land crossings marks a significant expansion of the e-Visa regime beyond airports and seaports, allowing eligible foreign travellers greater flexibility in entering the country through international border points.
The latest expansion comes as the government consolidates immigration arrangements under the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025, which replaced the earlier legal framework governing the entry, stay and movement of foreigners in India. The government has been progressively expanding the e-Visa network this year. In March, the MHA made e-Visa facilities operational at several additional seaports, including Alang, Bedi Bandar, Bhavnagar, Porbandar, Hazira, Pipavav and Mandvi in Gujarat; Cuddalore, Nagapattinam and Tuticorin in Tamil Nadu; Kakinada and Krishnapatnam in Andhra Pradesh; Paradip in Odisha; and Dhamra in Odisha.
Earlier, the government had also designated the Jogbani land immigration post and additional seaport immigration posts for entry by e-Visa holders. The latest notification takes that expansion further by increasing connectivity through land borders, alongside the existing network of airports and seaports. The MHA maintains separate lists of airports and seaports authorised for the e-Visa facility as part of its immigration services for foreign nationals.
