The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has announced a 10-day tour package to Japan, offering travellers an opportunity to explore some of the country's best-known cities, heritage sites and scenic destinations. The package, which departs from Delhi on September 6, covers Tokyo, Hakone, Hamamatsu, Kyoto, Osaka, Nara and Hiroshima, with prices starting at Rs 3.46 lakh per person.
Tour covers major Japanese destinations
The 10-day, 9-night itinerary begins with a flight from Delhi to Tokyo's Haneda Airport, with the return journey scheduled for September 15.
During the trip, travellers will visit attractions across Japan, including Asakusa Temple, Nakamise Dori, Ueno Park, Odaiba and TeamLab Planets in Tokyo. The itinerary also includes a visit to Mount Fuji's Fifth Station, subject to weather conditions, along with Owakudani Valley, the Hakone Ropeway and a sightseeing cruise on the Hakone Pirate Ship.
The tour also features stops at the Toyota Museum and SCMAGLEV Railway Museum, Arashiyama Bamboo Forest, Kinkaku-ji Temple, Fushimi Inari Taisha, Osaka Castle, Nara Deer Park, Todai-ji Temple, Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, Miyajima Island and the Itsukushima Shrine. One of the highlights is a ride on Japan's Shinkansen bullet train between Shin-Osaka and Hiroshima.
Package price and inclusions
IRCTC has priced the package at Rs 3,45,999 per person on triple sharing, while the twin-sharing option costs Rs 3,49,999. Travellers opting for single occupancy will have to pay Rs 4,73,999.
Separate fares have also been announced for children aged between five and 11 years. The package includes return economy-class airfare, accommodation in four-star hotels, Japan tourist visa charges, daily breakfast, lunch and dinner, airport transfers, sightseeing in air-conditioned coaches, travel insurance for passengers below 70 years of age, an English-speaking tour guide and applicable taxes.
Booking requirements
According to IRCTC, passengers must possess a passport that remains valid for at least six months from the date of return. Applicants will also have to submit the required documents, including a PAN card, and fulfil Japan's visa requirements by providing financial and employment-related documents.
The corporation has stated that the flight schedule and itinerary are indicative and may be revised depending on airline operations and other operational requirements.
