WhatsApp is expanding its integration with Meta’s AI-powered smart glasses, allowing users to send messages, exchange voice notes and make calls without reaching for their phones.
The feature is now available on the new Ray-Ban Meta audio glasses, with Meta also bringing AI-supported WhatsApp functions to Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta devices.
WhatsApp announced the development on X, saying, “WhatsApp is available on the new Ray-Ban Meta audio glasses. send and receive messages, voice notes, and answer or initiate calls when you can't reach for your phone.”
Messages and calls without using a phone
Users can activate WhatsApp functions through voice commands and manage conversations hands-free. Incoming messages can also be announced and read aloud in supported languages.
On compatible Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta glasses, users can send photos, exchange voice messages and answer or initiate WhatsApp calls. During video calls, the glasses’ built-in camera can also share the wearer’s point of view.

Meta Ray-Ban Display adds an in-lens screen
The Meta Ray-Ban Display takes the integration a step further with a display built into the lens. Users can see notifications and WhatsApp messages without taking out their phone, while voice commands and suggested replies can be used to respond.
For calls, the glasses combine the camera with open-ear speakers, allowing users to communicate while remaining aware of their surroundings.
How to connect WhatsApp to Meta glasses
Users can link WhatsApp through the Meta AI app. After selecting their connected glasses, they can enable the WhatsApp integration and then use voice controls to send messages, hear incoming chats and make calls.
The connection can also be removed through the app’s settings.
Meta’s AI glasses also offer features such as message search and AI-generated summaries for recent WhatsApp conversations. According to the provided information, these searches and summaries are processed on the device, while personal WhatsApp messages continue to be protected by end-to-end encryption.
The message-search feature is currently available only to eligible members of the Early Access programme in the United States and Canada, making the broader hands-free WhatsApp integration the latest step in Meta’s push to bring messaging directly to its smart glasses.
