Apple has entered the foldable smartphone market with the launch of its first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo. The company unveiled the device globally on Wednesday at its ‘Surprise and Shine' event, with the handset arriving in two colour options and four storage configurations.
The iPhone Duo has a passport-like foldable design and comes with Apple's latest A20 Pro chipset, which is also used in the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.
iPhone Duo India price and sale details
The foldable iPhone starts at Rs 2,99,900 in India for the 256GB model. The 512GB version is priced at Rs 3,24,900, while the 1TB and 2TB variants cost Rs 3,74,900 and Rs 4,49,900, respectively.
Globally, the device starts at $1,999 for the 256GB variant. Pre-orders will open on October 16, with sales scheduled to begin on October 23.
The iPhone Duo will be available in Star White and Night Sky finishes.
Two displays and foldable design
The device features a 7.6-inch Super Retina XDR display on the inside and a 5.4-inch Super Retina XDR cover screen. Apple has used a custom Nano Texture finish on the inner display to minimise the appearance of the crease and cut down reflections.
The outer display and rear panel come with Ceramic Shield protection. The foldable also supports MagSafe wireless charging.
Apple has opted for eSIM-only connectivity, saying the removal of a physical SIM slot creates additional space for the battery.
A20 Pro powers the foldable
At the heart of the iPhone Duo is the A20 Pro, manufactured using a 2nm process. It features a six-core CPU, seven-core GPU and dual Neural Engine setup. Apple claims the chip offers 40 per cent more power than the A19 Pro and twice the performance of the A18 Pro.
The handset runs iOS 27, which includes features designed specifically for its foldable form factor, including split view, easier app switching and partial-folded use.
Dual cameras and long battery claims
The rear camera system combines a 48-megapixel Fusion Camera with a 48-megapixel Fusion Ultra Wide camera. It supports video recording of up to 4K at 120fps.
Apple claims the phone can deliver “all-day battery life”, with up to 31 hours of video playback using the inner display and 44 hours using the outer screen. The device also supports fast charging, with five minutes of charging claimed to provide five hours of video playback.
