Tata Motors has expanded the Sierra line-up with the launch of the new Legend Series, priced from Rs 11.99 lakh, bringing several features previously restricted to higher variants of the SUV to more affordable versions.
The Legend Series introduces 18 variants spread across five trim levels — Smart+ L, Pure L, Pure L(O), Pure+ L and Adventure+ L — and carries a premium of Rs 50,000 to Rs 70,000 over the corresponding Sierra trims on which they are based.
The existing Sierra variants continue without changes to their equipment or powertrain combinations but will now be identified as the Signature Series.
Five new trims
The entry-level Smart+ L starts at Rs 11.99 lakh for the naturally aspirated petrol manual, while the diesel manual is priced at Rs 13.49 lakh.
The Pure L starts at Rs 13.79 lakh for the petrol manual and rises to Rs 15.24 lakh for the diesel manual. The newly introduced Pure L(O) begins at Rs 14.29 lakh, while Pure+ L prices start at Rs 14.99 lakh.
Adventure+ L sits at the top of the Legend Series, with prices beginning at Rs 16.99 lakh for the petrol manual. The diesel automatic costs Rs 19.49 lakh, while the 160hp turbo-petrol automatic is priced at Rs 18.99 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom, India.
Premium features move down
A major focus of the Legend Series is making equipment from more expensive Sierra variants available lower down the range.
The Smart+ L adds leatherette seats and interior trim, wheel covers, auto-folding outside rear-view mirrors, steering-mounted controls and roof rails over the standard Smart+.
Pure L substantially expands the equipment list with a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an eight-speaker audio system, rear-view camera, cruise control, tyre-pressure monitoring system, rear wiper and washer and 17-inch alloy wheels.
The new Pure L(O) builds on that package with a panoramic sunroof, automatic headlamps and rain-sensing wipers.
Ventilated seats get cheaper
The Pure+ L is among the more significant additions because it brings equipment previously available only on the higher Accomplished trim further down the Sierra range.
It gets ventilated front seats and a six-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat, along with dual-zone climate control, manual Boss mode, a thigh-support extender and an all-leatherette cabin.
The Adventure+ L adds more technology, including a 360-degree camera, frequency-dependent dampers, terrain modes and dual 12.3-inch screens. It also gets front parking sensors, a reclining rear seat, ambient lighting, a cooled glovebox and wireless phone charging.
Three engine choices
The Sierra continues with three 1.5-litre engine options — a naturally aspirated petrol, a direct-injection turbo-petrol and a diesel — with manual and automatic gearbox choices depending on the variant.
The naturally aspirated petrol develops 106hp and 145Nm and can be paired with a six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. The 160hp turbo-petrol produces 255Nm and uses a six-speed automatic, while the 118hp diesel is offered with six-speed manual and automatic transmissions.
There are, however, some changes to the powertrain availability under the Legend Series. The Pure+ L becomes the most affordable Sierra variant to offer the 160hp turbo-petrol engine, significantly lowering the entry point for buyers seeking the SUV’s most powerful petrol powertrain.
The Adventure+ L, meanwhile, gains the 106hp naturally aspirated petrol engine with the DCT gearbox. Tata has also extended this petrol-DCT combination to the regular Adventure+ trim.
Sierra range expands
The Legend Series arrives less than a year after Tata revived the Sierra nameplate in November 2025. The new-generation SUV is positioned between the Curvv and Harrier in Tata Motors’ portfolio and is offered with a considerably broader range of powertrains and technology than its iconic predecessor.
The Sierra had crossed one lakh bookings by March this year, prompting Tata Motors to increase production. It also secured a five-star Bharat NCAP crash-test rating earlier this year.
With the Legend Series, Tata is now widening the choice within the Sierra range without creating an entirely separate mechanical package. Instead, the strategy brings comfort and technology features from higher variants to lower price points, giving buyers more equipment combinations across the SUV’s petrol, turbo-petrol and diesel line-up.
