Tata Motors unveils TATA.CARS identity to bring passenger vehicle portfolio under one brand

New master brand will span conventional and electric vehicles as automaker seeks younger buyers and a unified customer experience

Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd (TMPV) has unveiled a new brand identity, TATA.CARS, bringing its passenger vehicle offerings under a single consumer-facing banner as the automaker prepares for the next phase of its mobility business. The company said the new identity is intended to appeal to a younger generation of buyers while providing a common umbrella for its growing range of hatchbacks, sedans, SUVs, electric vehicles and future mobility products. TATA.CARS will operate as the customer-facing master brand, while Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd will remain the company’s legal name and continue to be used for statutory, regulatory and investor-related purposes.

‘Nothing’s Too Far’

The new identity is built around the brand promise “Nothing’s Too Far”, which Tata Motors said reflects its view of mobility as an enabler of opportunity, exploration and personal aspirations. Managing Director and CEO Shailesh Chandra said the company’s journey had included developing India’s first indigenous car, expanding electric mobility and bringing greater emphasis on vehicle safety. He described TATA.CARS as more than a change in branding, positioning it as an expression of the company’s ambitions as vehicles become increasingly connected, intelligent and sustainable.

The company also believes the TATA.CARS name is simple and intuitive enough to work across international markets.

One umbrella for expanding portfolio

Tata Motors has significantly widened its passenger vehicle presence in recent years, particularly through SUVs and electric cars.

The new master brand is designed to accommodate both its existing range and products based on emerging automotive technologies without creating separate identities around different forms of mobility.

TATA.CARS will consequently cover the company’s hatchbacks and sedans alongside premium SUVs, battery-electric vehicles and future mobility solutions.

The move does not amount to the creation of a new corporate entity or a change in ownership of the passenger vehicle business.

Identity to reach dealerships and digital platforms

Customers will gradually encounter the TATA.CARS branding throughout their interactions with the automaker.

The identity will be introduced across digital platforms, dealerships and other retail environments, service centres and advertising and marketing communications.

By adopting a common identity across these channels, the company is seeking to make the experience more consistent from the initial search for a vehicle through purchase, servicing and subsequent ownership.

The branding exercise also comes as automakers increasingly seek direct and digitally connected relationships with customers rather than limiting brand interaction to vehicle purchases and dealership visits.

TMPV name stays

Despite the consumer-facing change, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd will retain its existing legal identity.

Official filings, regulatory disclosures and communications with investors will therefore continue under the TMPV name.

For consumers, however, TATA.CARS is intended to become the principal identity representing Tata Motors’ passenger vehicle business and its future products.
