Renault launches Triber 100PS at ₹7.84 lakh with new turbo engine

The Triber 100PS had marked the India debut of Renault’s new RGEP architecture while retaining its modular seven-seat configuration

Renault India on Monday launched the new Triber 100PS, expanding its seven-seater line-up with a turbocharged petrol engine and introducing the Renault Group Entry Platform (RGEP) in India. Prices for the Triber 100PS start at ₹7.84 lakh and go up to ₹8.99 lakh (ex-showroom), with the model available in Evolution, Techno and Emotion variants.

The new model combines the Triber’s existing modular five, six and seven-seat configurations with a 100 PS turbocharged powertrain and extensive changes to its underlying engineering. Renault said the vehicle is not merely an engine upgrade, with changes extending to engine management, thermal systems, structural integration, suspension and vehicle dynamics.

New turbo engine

At the heart of the Triber 100PS is Renault’s turbocharged TCe 100 petrol engine, producing 100 PS of power and 180 Nm of torque. The powertrain is supported by a new Renault Engine Management System, or R-EMS, developed to optimise performance, responsiveness and efficiency.

Renault claims a certified fuel efficiency of 21 kmpl for the new model. The engineering package also includes revised suspension geometry, front and rear anti-roll bars, MTV damper technology, revised braking calibration and dedicated vehicle-dynamics tuning for Indian roads.

RGEP makes India debut

The Triber 100PS is Renault India’s first model to use the new Renault Group Entry Platform. The company describes RGEP as an adaptable architecture designed to accommodate future mobility requirements, changing regulations and multiple powertrain solutions.

Renault has also introduced an advanced thermal-management architecture, including a Brushless Direct Current cooling fan. According to the company, the system allows more precise cooling management while improving energy efficiency and thermal performance.

Francisco Hidalgo, Vice President – Sales & Marketing, Renault India, said the Triber 100PS was an important step in the company’s product roadmap and followed the recent introductions of the Kwid and Duster Adventure. The company said the launch was another part of its programme of 12 product interventions over 18 months.

Seven-seat flexibility retained

Despite the extensive engineering changes, Renault has retained one of the Triber’s key selling points — its flexible cabin. The vehicle can be configured for five, six or seven occupants and continues with removable Easy-Fix third-row seats, slide-and-recline second-row seating and one-touch tumble access.

The Triber 100PS remains under four metres in length and uses a 1.0-litre petrol engine, allowing it to qualify for the 18 per cent GST rate applicable to small petrol cars. Renault said more than 2.5 lakh Tribers have been sold in India.

The vehicle also offers more than 100 seating combinations and expandable boot space of up to 625 litres in its five-seat configuration. Other utility features include 182mm ground clearance, 23 litres of interior storage and roof rails capable of carrying loads of up to 50 kg.

Features and safety

Depending on the variant, the Triber 100PS comes with an eight-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system supporting wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a digital LED instrument cluster, automatic air-conditioning, cruise control, wireless charging, rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlamps and a Smart Access Card.

Independent rear air-conditioning with vents for the second and third rows has also been retained. Six airbags and 21 safety features are standard, while higher variants offer equipment including front parking sensors, a rear-view camera with guidelines and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

Three variants on offer

The turbo TCe 100 manual range begins with the Evolution variant at ₹7,84,900, followed by the Techno at ₹8,53,900 and the Emotion at ₹8,99,900, all ex-showroom. The existing Energy range continues alongside the new turbocharged versions, with prices beginning at ₹5,80,875 for the Energy MT Authentic variant.

Renault said the Triber 100PS forms part of its “futuREady India” strategy, under which it plans to introduce new products, architectures and globally developed technologies adapted for Indian customers. As the first Renault model in India to use RGEP, the Triber 100PS also signals the company’s broader product and engineering push in the domestic market.
